You will be judged on your answer in the following:
1) First and foremost, why should you be selected to play?
Because I'm awesome like that. =P
I just feel that after the amount of time I've spent here, I think I know how things run well enough to perform very well in this contest. I've had my experience with staff jobs, and I also participated in The Apprentice the last time it occurred, and did fairly well, despite what I'd term as a "crash and burn" when I was the leader for my team. I'm active on the site, and have continually been active throughout my entire stay here.
2) What qualities do you possess that will make you the Idol?
I love settling arguments. My life's dream is to become a mediator, and anytime I see an argument, I love trying to find a settlement for both sides that seems fair. I'm also very level-headed. It takes a whole lot to piss me off, and even more to do so on an internet RPG. I will admit that I do procrastinate sometimes, however, once I begin working on something, I don't stop until it's done. I could keep going, but I don't think I should inflate my own ego, so I hope this is enough. If you need more "qualities," just let me know.
3) Tell me any previous experience you have with running an RPG. Included should be the name of the RPG, the genre, and how long it lasted.
Name of RPG: Friend or Foe RPG
How Long it Lasted: Began sometime in December of '05, and is still going strong today
Genre: A compilation RPG incorporating characters from any anime, video game, or comic book
Position Held: Super Moderator
4) Finally, you need to write a short essay/description (200+ words) of what you feel being a staff member of Chubbs is all about. What do you think is nessecary, what do you think has to be done. Be detailed, as much as you can. Don't kiss our asses, we arn't looking for compliments.
Okay, based on my experience in The Apprentice competition, I can provide a single word that sums up what the position of staff is like:
Demanding.
The amount that you all have to deal with, with no added incentives on your part is staggering. I'm not trying to kiss your ass, I'm being truthful. The Apprentice showed me just how much you have to be willing to commit to the site. Regardless, I think I can sum up what is required in order to be a good member of staff on Chubbs.
First, you've got to be dedicated. There always seems to be work to do here, whether it be updating members' character vaults, answering members' questions, approving/denying a prospective member, planning upcoming sagas, setting up RPG projects, or searching for where VJ went (har har har). It's just a lot to do, and as staff, it just needs to be done. If you aren't dedicated to the site, then you're dumping your responsibilities onto some other poor staff member.
Secondly, you have to be level-headed. As members, we can get to be annoying as hell sometimes, I'm sure that staff has had to struggle to remain calm in dealing with us sometimes. You can't be a volatile staff member, and explode on a random member just because you're furious about the fact that they bumped their thread before 72 hours had passed, or whatever reason it may be. Also, due to the amount of work that needs to be done around the site, you have to be able to handle the stress of trying to manage your staff duties along with dealing with your own real life.
And finally, you have to be willing to willing to sacrifice. The staff doesn't get paid for the amount of work they do here, and they aren't being reimbursed for the time they lose making sure this place remains a success. While staff will always put real life before chubbs, you still have to be willing to give up your free time to this place, something that many people are already in short supply of.
I think I covered the big three points that I've noticed all staff members possess, although there are of course other factors that are important in being an effective staff member as well. If you feel I need to elaborate more, I will, but I don't want to bore you considering I've already drawn this out quite long.
