Garlic was a small creature. He knew this, and while he was not exactly proud of this fact he had grown comfortable with it in his long years of life. But standing on those bleak, desolate and all together unpleasant plains, with nothing to see except a new horizon, he felt downright tiny. The looming mass of robotics next to him didn?t help much either.
?Are you sure you are the real Android 16?? He seemed so different from the good natured companion he knew so many years ago. ?I? do not know,? the android monotoned. Garlic looked up into those familiar eyes and saw the all together unfamiliar mind looking past them. He was an android after all, a man made machine: maybe this was the same model, just a different unit. The idea of an army of these men was slightly unsettling. The16 he knew was a fierce warrior. Then again, this one seemed put off by the very mention of violence. ?So you going to use that gun?? Garlic needed to know if he could count on the machine in battle. 16 glanced down at the heavy support rifle resting easily in his massive hands. ?Not if I don?t have to.? The dwarfed goblin tried not to let his sneer show. ?Oh yeah. That?s fine. I?m sure they?ll just let you sit and pick daisies while everyone else is being shot and dieing around you. It?ll be a regular pik-a-nik, huh boo-boo?? The faintest hint of confusion passed 16?s face. ?What?? ?It was sarcasm.? Then something dawned on Garlic. A thing very critical, that staggered him with the thought of it. ?Where the hell are we going?? Sinners make the best Saints

He had been removed from his own unit?only to serve in the newly found Foxhound unit, which was led by the fearless commander of the United Army, Garlic Jr. Gokua had heard stories of this commander and how he interacted with his unit; they were not the most interesting tales to hear. It did not matter much, however; he was still a loyal Lieutenant of his respectable faction, and a mere leader would not change his feeling for United.
?Hey, Gokua,? a man shouted out to the alien. The Lieutenant looked back. It was Kiro. ?Hm?? ?I see that you were also placed into this unit, eh?? Kiro ran up alongside Gokua?s steed. The swordsman smiled softly. ?Yes, I have.? He then turned his concentration at the barren plains ahead. ?So, apparently the commander in charge decided to treat us to his version of the Bataan Death March.? Kiro chuckled lightly. ?Yeah, but at least we have sufficient food and water to aid us in this journey.? ?Agreed.? Gokua nodded. ?I just pray that this man knows what his intentions are, and isn?t just blindly leading us.? ?Why don?t you go talk to him? He?s at the front of the unit.? Kiro outstretched an arm to point at Garlic Jr.?s position. Gokua peered through the malaria-like waves of heat, but failed to visualize the commander. ?It?s no use.? ?Try harder.? ?I have a better idea,? Gokua replied. He whipped the reins against the stallion?s neck, urging him forward. The horse obeyed. He quickly made his way to the front of the unit. As he made his way to the front, a orange-haired, impassive man looked back to see what was the cause of the constant clapping of hooves against the ground. ?We have a visitor,? he remarked as the alien drew closer. Garlic gradually turned his head back, wondering what the android was muttering. He too saw the orange-haired warrior near. ?Hmm? I wonder who this man might be.? ?Commander?? Gokua asked as he brought his steed beside Garlic. ?Yes??? the teal dwarf replied. ?Ah, so you?re the commander of the United Army,? Gokua said, extending his hand out toward Garlic. ?It?s a pleasure to finally meet you.? ?And you are??? Garlic arched a brow. ?Lieutenant Gokua.? ![]() Placed 3rd in Dante's Abyss 08

?What I desolate place for an someone like me to be taken to,? thought the mechanical being as he walked among the soldiers. Sixteen was unable to compute why exactly he was being held captive by the goblin Garlic, but he was being treated with the utmost respect, and he would not give anything less than that to his savior. They were standing together in the front of a massive line of both excited and semi tired soldiers trudging along in unison.
The android could only pity the soldiers who were visibly tired, and wondered just how they felt. He?d never gotten tired before, but he?d never done anything to make him tired. Garlic was talking to an oddly colored warrior riding a rather proud looking stallion, but did not bother to listen into the conversation. His surroundings were seemingly endless, with no trees in sight and the heat scorching. The mechanical warrior could feel the coolant inside him pumping quicker than usual to maintain a normal body temperature. Once again he looked upon the hundreds of sweating United soldiers pushed to their limits for their leader. ?These people are walking into their death beds for this man, why do they follow him blindly?? Sixteen asked himself. There were so many things he was clueless about, and he hadn?t the time to figure them all out. He wasn?t sure who to trust, and what he should do when it came time to pick up his weapon. Looking into the setting sun, the android felt a surge of power rush through his metallic body. The jolt felt rejuvenating for some reason, and made him think of his past. Sixteen dug deep within his mind, only to find the techniques that were stored within his limitless memory. Telepathy?.. ?Garlic, why are you fighting this war? Why do you lead these people to their deaths?? the orange hared giant thought, concentrating on the goblin talking away next to him. Three seconds later, the green commander jumped a few feet off the ground in horror. ?God damn, what the hell was that shit. Gokua you here that?? Garlic spat, landing back on the ground softly. ?Hear what sir?? The mounted lieutenant asked, with a puzzled look pasted on his face. Not able to keep from smiling the green amoured android opened his mouth to speak, when his captor whipped his hooded face around making eye contact with the voices maker. (OOC: It was the ghost of Christmas Past speaking to you Garlic, don?t be afraid)

War? the word echoed from one corner of his mind to the other. Death? the silent word was to his ears spoken louder than a shout.
?War is a game. A competition with the stakes raised to their peak. Death? it is not as final as some would like.? Gokua eyed him oddly, his mind clearly giving birth to newfound doubts as to his leader?s sanity. Garlic shook the unusual voice off. This wasn?t the first time his mind started talking to him and it wouldn?t be the last. ?Say, Gokua. You, er? wouldn?t happen to know where the hell we are, huh?? ?I? didn?t think that was my job.? The swordsman?s voice was somewhat icy. Garlic could only imagine the vaguely mutinous concoctions brewing in that funny green skull. ?Oh no, no it isn?t.? he muttered vaguely. ?Just asking.? The pocket-sized commander took this moment to wander off slightly and get a decent look at the wasteland around him. His detached manner was meant to disarm his comrades? worries, but seeing their leader acting so different only confirmed what they knew. They were lost. Garlic dug in his pocket and pulled out a candy cane. Sucking on the straight edge and leaving rest like some sort of Yule-tide pipe, GJ began scratching in the dust. It was a simple matter of not going backwards. They had to reach somewhere if they kept going forward, right? ?Lost are we?? The Doctor himself knelt beside Garlic and stared at the makeshift map scrawled onto the earth. ?No, Doogie. I just need to get a few things straight.? ?Well its time for your meds you know.? Garlic let out a dark chuckle. ?Oh I know. But there isn?t time. What do you think? Straighten out and head this way?? Garlic gestured in a random direction. It didn?t matter, they were all the same. ?Ha!? Mackenzie laughed, ?I have no fucking clue.? And so he was on his own. Now where to head? ?Eenie Meenie Miney?? he muttered under his breath. ?What was that?? ?Nothing.? And you are it. Time to inform the corporals. ooc: sorry for the general shittyness. I wrote the first half last night and when I went to open the file it wasn't there. So, rush job. Sinners make the best Saints

With every new day since the android had been awoken from what seemed to be the longest sleep of his life came a new journey. Each morning came a new lathering of dew on his undersized sleeping bag. Garlic came to him at six am each day to explain to him what exactly his plans were for the day.
Sixteen was asked by the commander to listen to each detail of any plan carefully, and advise him on the decision. Many times the two warriors would sojourn for a time on certain idea?s, taking each detail with absolute carefulness. While other times they would only speak for a moments notice. This new morning the android received only a succinct speech. Garlic had a somewhat annoyed visage about him this morning, and the news he was about to give would more than likely mirror his mood. ?We are moving out again Sixteen, so get your self ready to march,? the miniature fighter explained sharply. With a nod, the orange mohawked apparatus folded up his miniscule sleeping bag and tossed it over his shoulder. He followed his leader towards the middle to the camp, and waited patiently behind him for orders. This day would be a dull and dreary one for the average soldier. He was sure that their moral was low, and with another day of marching ahead of them their spirits were sure to be in the dumps. ?Is there nothing that can be done about your troops dreary demeanor?? questioned the machine gunman, as he looked out upon the sea of drowsy soldiers. ?There is nothing I can do at this moment, but they will be awarded for their strong will when the time is appropriate. If Nappa hadn?t given them most of the officers beer a fortnight ago then we?d be having a damn party right now, but no. He had to go and give all that shit out to his troops for building his precious fort,? Garlic ranted, going a little to far with the subject. ?Your frustration is getting the best of you Jr. don?t show to much negative emotion in the eyes of your soldiers,? Sixteen monotones, trying his best to cool down the tempered goblin. Garlic didn?t reply, but instead made his way through the ranks of his subordinates checking over there things and making sure everything looked organized. It was a trivial job for a commander, but he felt it was necessary one. The green armored combatant could only marvel at how easily a walk through the camp would lift many of the soldier?s spirits, and get them moving as if they were fully rested. ?Maybe this day won?t be so bad,? he thought to himself, as the morning sun finally lifted high enough over the horizon to begin blinding him. It only took a few seconds for his eyes to adjust to the sunlight, and that was all the time the entire camp needed to begin their march northward. Sixteen could only wonder about his commander?s plan of action for today was, and why exactly hadn?t he been told like the many times before. |
