In a mini skirt, unbuttoned dress shirt, and a ruler in hand for spanking.

Similar to the parents' role, teachers instill within young people the values and teachings that they will use for the rest of their lives, thus, shaping thier mentality and making them into productive members of society. In ranking, they would be just below parents in the importance of children's lives. ![]() Fuck you, Photobucket.

I agree with Amy. I had poor experiences in school, and it didn't help that teachers never bothered to do much about it. Sometimes I think it'd be better if public schools could pay teachers higher saleries and had smaller classes, but the pessimist in me says it would get balanced out by attracting people who don't know what they're getting into.

Quote:Originally posted by Aqua Thanks for following the SPAM OFF TAG ya slippery bastard. Anyway I'm very curious because of the fact I could be completeing my two year degree program and getting hired this fall to be a teacher... I visited my old high school monday and talked with my former senior english teacher who told me if I wanted to be a teacher then I should get a four year degree. At my old highschool they haven't had a stable principal, whoever takes the job leaves after a year or so because the scores are horrible as well as the student body's behavior problem. They've already had four good teachers quit and they're short handed I think so I know if I tell the principal I'm up for grabs this fall then more than likely he'll hire me. I'd love to go back and teach at my old high school if the pay is right but I know it wont be especially since that would be my first gig as a teacher. More than likely I'll follow her advice and get a four year and maybe teach somewhere else. I'm just trying to see what do you guys and girls see when you think of teachers. Of course we've all had our share of dumb ass teachers...if you haven't then more power to you. But in the dirty south I've dealt with redneck teachers, teachers who knew their subject so good that they couldn't really teach it and immoral teachers who surpsingly didn't get caught taking a bite out of forbidden fruit if you catch my drift... This is a surpisngly long post lol but yea I'm just really stressed because I've come this far and I'm startin gto have doubts. My major is English and minor is English education so yea...all I need is three credits which I should be able to pull off this summer and get my degree.

I've always had bad experiences and pasts with teachers. I wasn't a dick like the other kids who sat and threw stuff about and poked fun at the fat guy, or the ones who participated in "play fighting" even. I just had a bad mouth when they had problems with me, and in usually resulted in an expelling or suspension.
I can tolerate college though, things are more laid back even though there's a lot of things to get done. You aren't pressured to do it by anyone other then yourself, which is kinda how I'm content to be.

One good teacher can mean the difference between a successful life and a failed one.
Totally believe that.

Yea Lucifer I agree wholeheartdly with you, it's surprising that I've even went to college with all the dillhole teachers I put up with through my years in the public school system. The majority of the teachers I had to learn from were horrible, more so personality and attitude wise then subject-matter wise. Right now I'm just trying to figure out if I do decide to become a teacher then how can I prevent myself from burning out. My edu teacher/advisor has told us if we do become teachers and we begin to find ourselves easily angered or teed off by our students to be sure to take a year or two off to regather ourselves mentally. Anyway yea thanks for everyone's input, my girl doesn't think I'll be able to do it cause I'm basically a clown but I know when to be serious.

I've had good experiences with most of my teachers. My sixth grade teacher, for instance, was on my ass 24/7 about my school work and overall physical health. I'll admit she was a bit of a bitch, but she pulled me out of my shitty attitude towards school and I ended passing most of my glasses with a B or higher. She was exactly what I needed to help me through school. =P
The sad thing is that it seems like teachers are making the grade requirements less and less challenging, and focusing more and more on WASL. And what's even sadder? The WASL requirements are declining so kids have an easier time! God, it seems like every class now a days is like some SAT prep class, only for WASL. Oo;; And to top it off, teachers seems to care less and less about students in my school. I think education as a whole is declining, and It makes me depressed. Quote:Canera411: God is into anime.
