2007 would be a very good choice.

I also know about the newest version of The Romance of 3 Kingdom shit, but its in Hiragana(Japanese)

Eliminating those 2 and in the RPG section...

FFX = Roxxorz

He lubs RTSs as well. He plays Romance of the 3 Kingdom ROMS... which one is a good one for the PS2?

And that didn't answer my question >=(. Will he know what's going on in FFX (I've never played) if he hasn't played any of the others?

Yea FFX should be good for anyone who hasn't played the series before...I hadnt played any FF game before besides FFX and from what I could tell it didn't contain any knowledge or people from past FF games...even if it did I wouldn't know.

Final Fantasy games are only really connected by brand name, Jack. So don't worry if you purchase him a FF game. He can pretty much start off on any of the games of the series and not have to know any history.

Rad mentioned Tales of The Abyss. Better than FFX?

And what about Kingdom Hearts? The only thing I'm hesitant about towards KH is that 1) the 'cutesy' Disney characters will make my nieces all sit around and beg can they play, 2) the 'cutesy' Disney characters will make my brother want to vomit. I have a feeling he would see Mickey Mouse and lose his temper.

And good to know I can skip all those other FF games. I'll eat my own ass before I play that many. =o

To tell you the truth I was worried about KH when I brought it. I was like 'god what have I done? 5.75 down the drain!' now I can't get Mickey weilding a keyblade and pwnin some heartless while Cloud and Leon team up to beat down nobodies.

KH is good if you don't judge it by the cover. If I had the ability I would've kicked myself in the nuts for thinking KH was a stupid disney game. Sure it has the greatest disney characters ever created but it's still got a good plot and gameplay.

Same thing about Final Fantasy, I was like 'only people who like that game are fucking asian or WoW zombies.' but now I like FF to a certain extent...still haven't played the game in a while. But it was very much worth the rental lol.

Besides if he doesn't like em then you could play them, once he sees you enjoying yourself he'd sneak a few games while you're not looking then eventually tell you to give him the game before he tells your parents.

Get him FF7, srsly, it's one of the best story-wise.

I'm just starting FFX, again, thank's to Rad. I'm a little weary because I have seen it played through 3 times, however, maybe I'll enjoy it.

I just got Tales of the Abyss, although now I'm a little tight for cash =P. Now I just need to find my Kingdom Hearts, I think my cousins have it.

But yeah if you're unsure, just get him FFX, it really did look awesome, and all the FF games (minus FF5) were really great, you may get him hooked.

I didn't really like FFX that much, so yeah, I think Tales of the Abyss is a lot better. The "Tales" games have been a lot of fun, in my opinion.

KH1 is a little bit "cutesy" but the game is phenominal. Seriously, its an amazing game. If someone gets hung up on the fact that Goofy and Donald are two of your characters, then they obviously don't know what a good game is.

Now, if you don't mind being a bit confused, KH2 is a lot more mature in terms of look and feel.

I'm playing through FFX for my fifth time now. I hope to have all stats maxed and Nemesis thoroughly pwn3d by the end of the summer, with all Blitzball players at LV99 with all the Techs they can possibly learn.

I don't think you will. It's a really good game once you get under the whole thing. I started at like FF4? After that I've been trying out every other version LoL...

Only one I've actually obsessed over is FFX. FFVII is good, FFVIII is great, FFIX is ok, and FFVI is grand. I'm still up in the air about FFXII, but I've gotta say, I'm kinda disappointed on the whole. The game hasn't exactly managed to stay fresh or exciting.

Why do you think that is?

I feel exactly the same way, but I haven't put my finger on why.

I think it's the battle system, combined with the relatively slow pace of the story.

Battle System: An interesting idea, but everything's either super-slow, or frazzling. Cure takes a good ten seconds to use on your party, even when outside of combat. It takes a little less than an age to get somewhere. You never really get the sense that you're progressing, in terms of character strength or in actual movement.

Story: It's just slow. There are plenty of new characters introduced, and it seems like the sort of plot (so far) that would make a great book, but hopefully, not a very long one. The world isn't like FFX, which was incredibly new and prompted all sorts of new ethical and moral questions in regards to death. This is just a different world. Same political systems. Same familial systems. The overwhelming bad guy is just a political dude that's in power because your country went under.

Character-wise, FFXII is almost as strong as FFX in a few respects. Balthier and Basch in particular are incredibly intriguing.

My bf told me that FFXII is similar to FFXI. If you haven't played FFXI that may be why you find it so slow.
