I've just switched to XP, for this first time ever. Yeh, even after using 2000 for so long and finally upgrading I'm still not as up to date as I'd hoped, because Vista exists, so I've acknowledged the fact I'll never be completely top notch now.
Anyway, more to the point, I was thinking, isn't it supposed to come with Microsoft Word? Or does anyone know where I can find Word without having to pay for it? (PM link)
Someone at college told me it does, but there's no trace of it anywhere with my install, and even after installing it I can't find it. I've still got to get the internet connection established first (I borrowed my dad's laptop for a few weeks temporarily), but my second priority is getting Word.
If it's not possible, I guess I can go p2p.

It doesnt come with word...why would it thats a program in office...anyways XP is fine, Vista isn't worth it yet.

Vista's not worth it? Well when I heard Microsoft were completely shutting down updates for XP, and all other versions just for everyone to get Vista, I thought it would be something big.
Oh, an does that mean I need to purchase Office, or is it already there?

You need to purchase Office.
As for Vista...it jusn`t provide sufficient support at the moment to be worth buying.

There are some free alternatives that are just as good as Word.

Of course, you could still use the default Wordpad. It`s not as sophisticated as Word but it serves it`s pourpose. For simple texts, you can still use the famous Notepad.

I don't mind a computer that has errors if there's a way to fix them. Which in most cases there is.
I think I'll use Notepad for now.
