Oh! I get it. You have to use the metros.
Hahahaha everything's so easy to get around now.
So glad Bethesda managed to capture the atmosphere from the first two games. When I heard they bought the franchise I was more than a little worried they'd fuck it up.
Also Behemoths. They are scary. That is all.

So, here's a warning for anyone doing the "Big Trouble in Big Town" quest. There shouldn't be any spoilers, but stop reading if you're that worried.
In the second part of the quest, if you have high enough Science, you'll be given the option to show the townsfolk how to repair their robots to help with defense. This is a glitched option. There's no robot, so the townsfolk just stand around like idiots. In addition, they no longer provide their normal dialog options, meaning you can't actually talk to any of them.
I'm a little annoyed about that.

Yearp. Make backup saves. This game is insanely buggy. That's the one thing that really bothers me about it. There's some gamebreaker bugs that won't let you finish the game, so make backup saves.

Good to know.
The glitch in "Big Trouble in Big Town" is the first glitch I've run into so far. I've actually been making back-ups cause my brother saved over my first save.

I've yet to find any serious glitches. At least bad ones. I find one that I keep getting XP off of =X

I've found a few that are mostly annoying. Haven't yet run into one that fucks my shit up, knock on wood.
At one point a super mutant just stood there stone-still staring at me. I ran right up to him and he wouldn't move. So I blew his head off.
The robots do this a lot, too. Just sort of... forget you're a threat, I guess.
Also go to Vault 106. It's creepy as hell and you're totally missing out if you don't.
(It was also mentioned in the Fallout Bible. =o)

That happened to me once, too. Pretty much saved my life.

Yes.
Has anyone found any of the perks to be not worth taking so far? I really want to get the Mysterious Stranger perk, but I'm not sure it would actually be worth it. I wouldn't really recommend Lady Killer; I've seen one dialog option from it and I've fought more men/genderless-beasts than women.

Since there's a level cap, any perks that accelerate XP/instantly level you are a waste. Take it slow and gain the levels naturally. Put the perks to better use.

I came to the same conclusion almost immediately after taking "Here and Now."
I didn't mind taking the +XP perks, since I didn't really have anything else to take. Though, in hindsight, I suppose taking more ranks of Intense Training would have been more... efficient.

In Fallout 1 and 2 Here and Now was pretty good but Bethesda switched up the leveling system (not a complaint, just an observation) from the way Black Isle did it. You used to only get a perk once every three levels. Level caps existed but they were essentially meaningless since you'll never hit them unless you spend countless hours wandering around for random encounters. There's not enough XP ingame unless you're a brutal random encounter whore, so it might have made sense to use Here and Now for that one last level.
Now you get perks every level and the level cap is definitely reachable for pretty much everyone. Hell I'm already Lvl 13 and I haven't done a whole lot yet.

My guy is a speech whore. Lady Killer, Scoundrel perks. He's the smoothest mofo this side of the dry dry Mississippi.
When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Speech/Small guns whore. Can't smoothtalk the super mutants so I make them fall down.

I'm only 14, but I've maxed Lockpicking, Speech, and Energy Weapons. Had I paid attention, I would have gone for Small Guns instead of E.Weps, but I'm doing just fine anyway. I spent the last couple of levels getting my Agility up to 6 so I can get the Sniper perk. Definitely looking forward to that one.
Does anyone know if it affects things like "face" or "targetting lens" or that kind of thing? I assume it only boost your accuracy on things labelled as "head" but it would be nice to know for sure.
Also, for anyone who hasn't figured it out on their own, there's absolutely no way to increase SPECIAL past 10 or a skill past 100.

Not sure, Rad. I have the sniper perk (and commando) so I guess I could check... but I don't think I'll be able to tell at this point (had I compared the before/after we'd have something). Since we're on the topic of improving to-hit chances, I also sold a certain someone up the river in exchange for a module that improves all of my VATS to-hit chances.

Oh! Did you sell them out to a Doctor? If so, I think I totally missed out on that and now I'm sad.
I also have the Commando and the pistol-version of it perks and they're amazing. Soooo helpful. Has anyone else been using the Shishkebob? It looks pretty badass.

Shishkebob is nice until you accidentally stumble into a gas-filled area and light yourself and everything else on fire.
I prefer power fist.

Shishkebab is fsking pimp. No power fist for me, yet. Sticking to the Chinese Assault Rifle, mostly. Energy weps don't have to 'oomph' they used to. But I have yet to come across a plasma wep yet, so... we'll see.
And yes, Rad. Despite the fact that my karma is so gatdang good I've got a picture of Vault Jesus on my pipboy, this doctor got what he was looking for.

Damn. And all I got was some stupid karma that I didn't even need.
I tried out the powerfist, but it wasn't quite as powerful as I was hoping. Heheheh.
I haven't found a plasma weapon either. Anyone have any idea where to get one?

MINOR SPOILERS
I just did the Big Trouble in Big Town quest and afterwards, I was teaching the kids who to shoot. I got bored and busted out the missle launcher and fired it at the kids. As I did this, super mutants show up at like the same time and it turns into a crazy battle royale of mutants vs me vs Big Town residents.
It was fucking awesome.

Fuck you all, having fun with VATS and all that shit. I've got this picture in my head of you guys all running around laughing and shooting things in a wonderful post-apocalyptic playground, but I'm in the financial shitter and I can't justify spending the money right now.
At least if worst comes to worst I have Christmas to fall back on.
And then I remember I have to buy presents too. Goddamnit for once I thought I had a sound plan.
