Birthdays are depressing. I never get to my birthday and am happy with my progression in any field of my life. I've got to get on some type of rigid program of self-improvement, feeling the same way 20 times in a row is all the motivation one needs.

My doctor says my mom might have cancer. They're not sure yet, but a catscan's revealed odd spots in her mouth and possibly (wasn't explained clearly to me) her brain.

So, this sucks. I apologize if I come across more hostile than usual. I'm trying to make sure I don't.

Thing is, all those spots mean is 'anomaly.' It could be something vastly different that's making her sick, but right now the doctor suspects the possibility of cancer. We don't know. I'm just scared, is all.

My mum was once told she probably had breast cancer and it turned out to not be the case. I that says you should never despair, no matter how bad your chances seem.

Oh, and for Jaxx and his quoters, that pretty much described me about two years ago, when I was halfway through my first year at university. Between then and now, I've been spending the majority of my energy on improving myself and fixing everything I don't like about my life. Though my methods, mindset, moods and motivation have all wildly fluctuated during this time, these days I'm very content with how far I've come, and the rate I'm continuing to improve.

I honestly think everybody should dedicate themselves to self-improvement. It doesn't matter if you do it for selfish or altruistic reasons, because being truly intelligent and motivated benefits you and the rest of the world. Whilst I'm not the best I could be, I'm a lot happier than I was two years ago. And I have no doubt whatsoever that, unless I stop trying to improve myself, my life is going to get better and better.

Do what you've always done, and you'll get what you've always gotten. True self-improvement takes a gigantic time investment, but the time's gonna pass anyway, so you may as well spend it on something worthwhile, right?

God, I need to stop embarassing myself with these seriousposts.

Good luck, and I hope she's ok. My mom had Thyroid cancer last year. It wasn't fun for anyone. I actually thought about life without her. Yeah, it blows.

I've just been roped into spending a "few days" at my uncle's house with his family (my cousins and aunt). I barely know these people, I barely make it through their holiday visits without just going in my room to listen to music, what the fuck am I supposed to do for DAYS. Days. With borderline strangers.

I might just say fuck this shit, and stop caring about the consequences. It's my aunt that wants me to go over THERE, if that makes any damn sense.

And if my cousin tags along that will make it worse. He's a constant whirlwind of condescension and negativity, fuck that.
