The Like/Hate Thread
Nah, I'd been wanting her to quit anyways. I was pissed, don't get me wrong, but to make things worse, the manager is one of my former roommate's cousin, who I'm good friends with. And he'd likely side with her since she's family and they hold family ties strong. So I just let it go. Said cousin, however, is a worthless fat bitch who thinks she's the shit because she's one of those ginormous bitches with EEE sized breasts that parties all the time, thus strips to get attention and thus thinks she's on top of the world.

He just said I wasn't suitable to be an Assisstant manager, and that was it. He came in to finish my last hour of my shift (wtf? asshole could have just done all of it) and told me to bring my shirt in when I came for my check.

Sounds to me like you did something that pissed off someone else you worked with, someone that he has a high opinion of for whatever reason, and they called him to complain.

EDIT: Was there a customer that was being particularly bitchy something in the past few days? They might have complained and gotten friends to as well or something, thus leading to your termination without question.

I just like that he was such a douche to promote you not that long ago, then just walk in out of nowhere and fire you with no explanation. Were you written up or anything before? I am not sure on Canada's laws, but you aren't supposed to just fire someone without having a valid reason written (unless there is a major scene) though I know some places (my job) have some legal reason that says they don't have to have a reason.

Ashe Wrote:Same thing happened to Erin while at Subway. They made her do all the extra cleanup every single night while they talked on the phone to their bfs, and then one day I went to drop her off (was still in the car) and she immediately comes back out and says "Let's go. I'm fired." I was like "Wtf?" and she said the manager said I hang around the job too often as the only reason they could come up with (Note: I never got out of my car. It was literally me dropping her off, and then coming up at closing and sitting in the car to pick her up. I never stayed at her job.) and then said "We'll let you work till the end of tonight though, someone called in so we need someone to cover the spot". Like a good girl, she told them to fuck themselves and that the manager would have to actually work for once, and left. As in she walked in, they said "Hi, your fired, but could you do us a favor and finish out today and do the cleaning for us?"

That's why I quit McDonalds. The high school kids running the place above me were complete idiots. And the manager's who had kids were so far up McDonald's ass, they were preaching how you could make a living out of the company. No sorry. I'm not cooking your fries and shit for the next 60 years....COLLEGE HO! And that's what I did. I went to work for a call center and that fell through because they were basically a shitty organization that blamed all their problems on Verizon. I would have been phone support for Verion FiOS.

Ive been unemployed since. I work at home, cleaning the damn place. Thus the parental units take care of the bills >.>. Only downside is that I don't have cash of my own to spend. Oh, and I fix the fucking internet when it breaks.

I notice most call centers do nothing more than pass the blame, and then the people they blame pass it back.

Wait, most "customer service"

I actually worked there longer than him, he was best friends with the Livestock manager. She and the store manager quit, so he was the only manager left, so I applied for Livestock and he applied for Store Manager. He and the girl started falling out of friendship, and I was becoming friends with her, so since then we've been kind of at odds. So situation being that I became Assisstant manager the same time he became store manager. I have never heard of any complaints at all about me, only once which happened on Friday, I snapped at a lady, and she complained to my coworker. I apologized profusely. I have never been written up in my life. I was always on time, and did what I was told.

Being that I was a manager for almost 3 weeks (probation period ending on Feb 20th) that apparently gives them the right to fire me with no excuse as to why I'm being fired. So I'm stuck with no job and needing to pay bills in 2 weeks.

I know for a fact that he has come to work drunk, he has slept in the office, he schedules his shifts so he can work with his gf (yes he hired his gf). Both he and the other Assist. Mngr. get high all the time. He has been late, he often asked me to come in to cover the rest of his shift, to switch shifts, he goes home early all the time.

I have a feeling I cared too much. I recently sent an email to the head office guy (Maurice, the one the store manager talked to about firing me) about how my sink was clogged for 2 weeks and we could not function like that without plumbing help, so he finally approved. I wouldn't work like a slave for them, so my bf thinks that I wasn't fool enough to work for such shitty pay and situations.

Ashe, how come you aren't running that restaurant you work at? You've been there like what, eight years now?

Its not that type of restaurant.

Secondly, I'm pretty much a disliked personality anywhere I go (any surprises there?) so I'm obviously not in the in crowd that all the assistant managers get picked from. (And yeah, that's how its been working. Small group of friends, and every single manager comes from that group, because when one leaves, they always group and give a good recommendation to the next.)

If you lack both charisma and the desire to throw a party and get drunk every weekend, like myself, then yeah. I'm hoping to go to the bar sometime, but the spot that finally is coming open is going to a friend of mine (who in fairness, is the only person there that has been there slightly longer than me, so I definitely would have given him priority).

Becca: I think I'd discuss it with someone higher in the chain, if I were you. Don't just "let it go" because you are the one fucked over by it. If that's truly how it went, they had no right to get rid of you, as the guy is pretty obviously doing it just because he wants his gf to be Asst Man with him. Write some letters and make some phone calls, and mention every bit of that shit.

What's the worst that will happen, you'll get fired?

I hate it when people wait until they've found a new partner to break up with their old one. Being clingy and indecisive is one thing, but allowing that to hurt someone else is something else.

I love snow. I was watching the TV reports of it snowing all over the UK today, with London covered and the buses cancelled, and I was like "goddamnit, why won't it snow here?" 10 minutes later it started, and walking home later I pretty much became Frosty. But it's all good, since it's so rare here. I feel like running around outside and rolling around like a retard whilst going "HAHAHHAHA AHAHAHA HAHAHA"

Shiiit, I just looked outside and in less than an hour it's gone from "bits of settled snow dotted here and there" to "every horizontal surface is white".

Yeah but there's no anything else either.
This city is bad at snow.

I know. There were absolutely no vehicles on the road, no trains or busses running. I was meant to post a letter today, but thought fuck it, postman aint coming anyway. This gave kids the excuse to play fight on the snowy roads and a few chicks to showcase their brand new Ugg boots.

Snow is overrated.

And I hate that my right eye has been twitching randomly for short periods of time, for the past week.
Reply
Fuck you. Snow is awesome.

And now that you said that, I just realised that my eye hasn't twitched in ages. For like 4 months it was twitching randomly from time to time annoyingly. Apparently it can be stress-related, so *shrug* But yay that my eye has calmed down, I guess.

My eyelids have twitched during some occasions. I wouldn't be surprised if the cause was stressed related.
