She decided to make a Graphical User Interface which wouldn't exactly be anything but like what VAD posted. It'd be like you had windows but it didn't do anything when you clicked on it, it was just a pretty picture.

A GUI is a way for manipulating programs on a computer through a graphical representation(Mouse cursor, icons, etc).

The most simple way to put it is if they had to go catch a criminal and had a car but it had no engine and she said "Oh I will paint the car and hopefully we can drive and catch the criminal..."
