You saying it doesn't really bother me, as I know you simply have a complete aversion to mmos in general (which I've been there, really). But on the topic of Halo, I won't say its horrible, but its greatly overrated. I'm not saying this without reason either, I just enjoy the Unreal Tournament style games of that type of FPS a hell of a lot more. I don't enjoy how slow paced Halo in general feels, even if its meant to be more realistic.

I jump on UT and its like "Nice, just hopped into a vehicle, keep going, nonstop action, shit evac this bitch, jump into another", but on Halo its more like "Alright, a vehicle. Now where's that door ha- Ah, there it is. Alright, time to sit down and- wait, have I checked to make sure I don't have a headlight out? I'd better get on that. Alright, things look good, let's crank this bab- Ugh, first I'd better put on my seat belt, might get a ticket or wreck this thing. Alright, cranking it up- hold on, gotta answer this text on my phone real quick, and dammit my gas light is on!" *BOOM*

EDIT: That said, I tend to just avoid Halo discussions and don't feel the need to just go "HALO SUCKS" over and over in hopes that my inarguable intellect compels you to agree. Similarly, one could look at specific individuals whenever Final Fantasy is mentioned. "FF7 SUCKS, LOOK AT ME I'M SEPHIROTH, I'M WHAT EVERY EMO KID ASPIRES TO BE!" "...um, great. Thanks for randomly joining in on the convo-" "FREEDOM OF SPEECH BITCHES NOW SUCK MY SACK!"

You are correct. Halo isn't unplayable, just overrated.

It's easy to pick apart any game to see what sucks about it. Even if it doesn't necessarily suck. Results are hilarious when the game actually does suck, though.

And I know 'WoW sucks' doesn't really bother you, but it doesn't stop me from trying. XD

Yeah. But most things are overrated.

DBZ, while a great show, is over hyped by fans. Final Fantasy 7, while a great RPG in my opinion, is, once again, over hyped by fandom.

I love WoW. But is it a gift from the hand of god himself? No, of course not. It's the a gift from Blizzard to better humanity.

Ashe - You and I must be playing VERY different games, because that's not the Halo I remember playing. While some sections were slower paced (I think some vehicle sections could've been speeded up), it NEVER got to what you're talking about unless you missed an objective or something.

I think the most frustrated I ever got in Halo was the long library elevator sequence, which I remember thinking 'damn this is a pretty godawful departure from what I was playing before.'

Because the rest of the game was gold to me. I went in expecting a very boring, samey shoot-the-aliens till dead adventure in FPSing, but instead I got one of the most cinematic game experiences I've ever had.

Was the story equivalent to some of the best in the industry? No.

Was the physics engine realistic and intuitive? No.

Was the pace kept up throughout? No.

Halo did above average/good in a lot of these areas, but it wasn't the best. Where it excelled was weaving these elements together into a palatable experience. On more than one occasion I felt like I was 'playing' an action movie, and I had a *fuckton* of fun doing it, especially after discovering The Flood. And isn't fun the MAIN goal of any game?

I think Halo deserves every bit of cred it gets. Yahtzee is either trolling or doesn't know what he's talking about. (Except on Halo 2, where some of the gameplay elements fell down.)

Belle: 90% of your post is focused on the single player game of it, and pretty much my entire post is directed to the multiplayer aspect. I've never played the single player, but the multiplayer is what I usually hear all the nerdgasms over. To me, its nothing more than the current Goldeneye, which means its probably an amazing game, but I don't think its as groundbreaking and innovative and the greatest idea ever like I keep hearing it is.

Ah, I must have missed that. I only played the multi-player of Halo a few times at my community college before I transferred. I didn't think it was anything special. Indeed, it did seem like today's Goldeneye.

But the single-player is definitely worth a play through. You should try it out.

Halo is a fucking good game. If you don't like it, no one is compelling you to play it by confirming that it kicks ass.

zomg the multiplayer in Halo is like the only redeemable experience. And it's certainly not groundbreaking.

Obviously Belle and I think very differently, because I thought the single-player experience in all of the Halo games was so bad it was actually pretty funny.

Like, I can go into detail if you want, but this whole 'hate' tangent started because of people hating on games, so I'll avoid that for now.

Well, I thought that the character looked perfect for Ashe, especially in the normal clothing to the side, so was trying to find more of her really. I looked over that database and she was the closest fit (since Rose took the other closest fit).
