Well, sorry that you think that the "Like/Hate" thread should be renamed the "Religion Discussion Thread".

Because that's what it was becoming???

I mean, I don't care about short term discussions that are likely to hit one, maybe two pages, but something of that nature tends to go for quite a while and would be better supported without other random comments being spliced throughout it about people's work days and such. To which someone (likely Jack since he trolls this way) would inevitably respond "Stop spamming up our religion thread with your stupid CoD4 stories plz".

Which, like I said, has nothing to do with it being religion. There is no censoring or any other stupid thing going on there. I have no problem with someone going and discussing it in another thread, I just think that its a topic that will essentially take over whatever thread its in.

I understand what you mean, but you basically stopped the discussion of something that involved no flaming or disrespect whatsoever just because it was based on religion. I think, actually now, that most of us on this site are adults (18+, I know I certainly am) and I don't really need a simple, civil conversation halted just because it's about something that could potentially become dicey.

Simple conversations spawn off like/hate comments all the time, and they normally peter out after a short time. If it does start to build momentum, then it's normally moved to another thread, but that wasn't what was happening here.

Which you addressed as if it had instead said "STOP DISCUSSING RELIGION. THERE IS NO RELIGION DISCUSSION HERE." What your response said was a fairly large step from what I actually said, to be honest.

Again, I felt that it was building some momentum (lengthy responses, and the exact points being discussed simply seemed like something that I could see someone wanting to get into deeper discussion about, which, again, is no problem. I just don't want those not involved to possibly feel that, due to the somewhat serious nature of the topic, that it would be rude to interrupt with something that would then be considered "off topic". By all means, I would openly encourage people to discuss it in another thread so that they could have all the space in the world to discuss the topic without hijacking another thread (which yes, I do feel it would gain momentum by its nature. Its something that people feel passionate about - rightfully so - and its something that - even if I'm wrong about this - I felt people would want to lengthily discuss.)

That said, history is a good predicator of the future, and almost all religious discussion threads that I've seen on Chubbs have eventually been shut down due to the very thing you were concerned would happen (ie. serious discussion which usually turns to 'u rong, god dead' 'u rong, u w1ll bern in hell lol'). So, maybe I'm just being touchy. I apologise.

Well, I apologize for saying you were implying it, I was just frustrated that I went to great lengths to point out that it wasn't a silencing attempt due to the topic being religion but more an offer of a moderated clean thread for you to discuss on without random stuff (that is allowed in this thread) to get dropped in on a frequent basis with comments like "lol darwin owns creationism" or something (ie, things that we expect in this thread that would be *ahem'd* at in its own thread). But yeah, I was frustrated that after typing that, that exact section was quoted and the response summed it up as saying that a comment about "ABCEFG" was entirely about "D" instead, somehow.

In all honesty, I don't mean to seem like I think it will get out of hand. And yeah, you may not have wanted to discuss it all that much. I kinda picked up a vibe (that again might be wrong) from Charles 4 that he was enjoying the chance to discuss the topic at a deeper level and a couple others somewhat echoed that, so I only thought mentioning that would give you guys a better location to do so, so that those involved are being given their respect to their discussion as much as those coming to this thread for the random off the wall stuff.

Unless you guys are just THAT masochistic and like the discussion of goatse from Jack interweaving with your bible verses, and if so, then well, my bad?
