Hate: Most of the critism towards this movie stems from 'plot-holes' that are explained right in the godamned movie, if you do a little bit of independent thought. Disliking the movie is a valid opinion, but some of these 'holes' are ridiculous.

There is a MTG: Online but you still have to pay for the online cards.

How much does it cost to play MTGO? Is there a monthly subscription fee?
Answer:
To start off with, you need to get an account. You can get an account in one of two ways:

1) Pay $9.99 in the online store. This will get you a coupon for $9.99 to spend in the online store, so making an account this way is essentially free, only requiring you to spend $10 in the store on product.

2) Use a code in the Ninth Edition Core Game, which comes with 81 cards and a CD that has Magic Online on it. By signing up for an account this way, you get the 81 cards in the paper version of the product you purchased. You DO NOT get a coupon for $9.99 if you create your account this way.

Past this cost to set up your account, there is no monthly subscription fee. The costs for MTGO mirror the costs of the paper game, namely $3.99 per booster, and $12.29 per tournament pack, theme deck, or intro pack. (Except for the Tenth Edition theme decks, which are $8.99 because they only contain 40 cards, and a couple of player-designed Tempest theme decks.) There are also Event Tickets, which cost $1 each in the online store, which are used to enter sanctioned events and leagues, and as the defacto currency online.

As a further note, your paper cards will not entitle you to any cards on MTGO. Paper and MTGO are two separate platforms, and thus (with the exception of redemption - see Q 1.10) the cards on the two separate platforms are separate.

Yeah one of the things which gave me a taste of how awesome they could be was when I randomly had a dream where I was completely in control and incidentally was surrounded by blondes in bikinis >_> That was a large motivator to get better.

This is a fairly comprehensive site. Obviously she's got a money motive, but the majority of what I've read is very solid advice that matches what I've read elsewhere.
