I hate when people make ignorant statements about god and the word of god. When they clearly have never read more than a few chapters even if that. Little do they see how ignorant it makes them to just follow the crowd of hatespeak.

I meant to clarify that not everyone who might disagree with biblical beliefs is "following the crowd of hate speak" if that's what he was trying to say, but I can also understand his statement and yes, that would be really anoying. But then I didn't clarify and left it vague.

Well, I would expect the same courtesy to be applied really. I'm against someone running around "bible bashing" when they only know maybe what they heard in Sunday School as a kid or something or have read just a couple of chapters. That's ignorant and shallow.

I'm equally against someone of a particular religious persuasion either assuming that anyone who does not agree with their beliefs have 'clearly not read it' or 'is following the crowd'. The accusation falls completely on deaf ears when a large number of people of any specific faith have never even opened the book of another faith and studied it as well to see what it might have to offer you. Many of them would be quite surprised at just how similar those religious texts are to their own, making me quite curious as to the choice of their specific one without having looked at anything else.

If we are referring to the Bible (which I agree tends to be the only one quoted), then yeah, I'd say that a lot of people quote passages all the time and haven't read it. And this if of both Christians and nonChristians as well. I was clearly surprised at just how many people identify themselves as Christian but have never read the bible itself, just going off of what their parents told them of God and thus taking it as an accepted truth and never looking into it. Its also (although not surprising at all, sadly) a large number of athiests (Usually the teenage crowd is most guilty of this, as part of the rebellion against conformity routine) that will quote parts that THEY found interesting, but if you ask them where it came from, the best that they can tell you is that they found it in someone's quote on the internet.

I hate knowing that I need to make a big change and get a career, but I feel like everyone is telling me it's going to be really hard. I don't know what to do.

Don't listen to everyone else. Listen to what your desires are. Realistically it isn't going to be easy, but since when is any major change easy? Just plan out the steps and start down the road.

Any ideas on what career you want to pursue?

But, then, so is anything worth doing.

I'm very disappointed with where I am today, and it's exactly because I avoided the difficult stuff. Now I'm stepping up ultra late to the plate and it's gonna take me a long time to get to where I could have already been.

It's just... something you have to expect.
