The Like/Hate Thread
I don't know about deleting bad threads either, I've been browsing their forums quite a bit since it came out and people say good and bad things in about even measures. Some people just wanted a simpler, flashier game and others wish they'd gotten another RPG instead.

I just straight don't believe that. It sounds like an outrageous exaggeration designed to do nothing but build hate for the game/company. Or a very, very, very, very liberal use of the word "legitimate."

I agree. It definitely sounds like propaganda.

Just as a note, lockpicking was always tied to cunning, just as an electable ability that required cunning. They just standardized it so it isn't random numbers. (Off my head, level 2 was 18 cunning, now it's 20+)

Eh, if it was, I never noticed it in DA:O. It wasn't more than 22 to be able to pick everything then, because that's what I had in Awakening and I never failed any, and in DA:O Cunning was the shit so I didn't care, but DA2 armor demands even stats to wear, so =(
Reply
Well, the old ones demanded dexterity to wear, but maybe they did it to stop just mashing everything into a stat and becoming so much more powerful. I recall people complaining about the difficulty of the other DA because it got easy if you did extra, here there's always like a cap because you need levels which you don't get that easy. I made my second walkthrough on hard and the difficulty doubled at least.

p.s. hating the loss of dedicated healers, so much harder keeping people alive, though it is more engaging..

Yeah, I don't like being chained to
Anders, because he's annoying in this game, but he's the only dude with a decent compliment of healing spells unless you do it yourself as a mage, which is lame. Also, hate the super long cooldown on heal and using healing pots
From what I'm reading this hardly plays like ME2, but more like ME1 which in my opinion is an inferior system to ME2.

I don't have a source because I was on their forums reading threads with legitimate concerns (stuff like why they use the same cave map over and over again, why the game runs poorly on very nice computers, why the story is very linear and not like the first one where you could pick your own story, etc). Then, right before my eyes they were all deleted. I was on the video game board of 4chan reading a thread about their concerns with DA2 (and no they were not trolling at all), and people were talking about the threads I saw earlier, and how they made them, and how they were now deleted and they were banned from posting. That's just what I saw, I can't give you a source because all of the threads are now deleted. There were a couple screenshots of them, but I didn't think I would need to save them or anything.

You lost all credibility in that statement when you mentioned 4chan. FYI.

Also. The first Monster Hunter on the PS2 recycled the different zones for each different hunt and I had a blast playing that. People are just too choosy today. It's a shame really.

Well, believe whatever you want, but that's what I personally saw happening. I would guess that it was the moderators on the Bioware forums, and not actual Bioware employees deleting the threads. The mods on their forums are really huge Bioware fanboys, and if you have any kind of concern they have been known to just outright delete your post. Bioware should definitely get some new guys to moderate their forums, because it's pretty ridiculous from what I've seen.

Moderators on game forums are usually just appointed community leaders like you just said. They always have their panties in a bunch and you should expect them to do stupid shit like this. It sounds like something a group of shitty mods would do.

EDIT: That would have been pertinent information from the get go xD.

What does that even mean? What an empty statement. People aren't allowed to dislike a game when it doesn't do the things they want? Especially when they are purposeful deviations from a previous one in the series? Please.

When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

No. That's not exactly what I meant. What I mean is that over the years people have grown accustomed to bitching about every little thing they can get their hands on. People enjoy bitching and being offended (in this case that the game isn't what they expected). I personally found the first one horribly cliche and unoriginal. I could predict every plot device I encountered, who was going to die/not, etc etc...what have you.

Again this is my opinion and take what you will out of it.

Moderators on game forums are no different than moderators and staff here. What we (and they) view as necessary responses and troll control, others will view as "silencing the opposing positions" and "abusing their power". They are no dumber and no more biased than we, or any other forum staff, are. And I say "forum staff" mostly to make the point, as its a trait everyone holds and is in no way limited to a "power corrupts" point. Its that we all have different perspectives, and they deal with so much trolling that they probably just look for certain warning signs to delete from instead of waiting on the situation to play out every time, or else they'd never keep it clean.

TLDR - People like to post "Fuck you ____ for making a shitty game, fix your shit and stop nerfing my ____ while leaving op as fuck ____ in its current state, you obviously all only play _____ you biased fucks" and then rally up the mob when the post is locked/deleted and say "our first amendment is being attacked, they can't take criticism, they're all biased fanbois!"

Self fulfilling prophecy.

I understand why you would think that, because it happens all the time. But honestly, the threads I saw being deleted weren't like that at all. The concerns I saw being posted were real problems with the game, and they just wanted to know why Bioware had decided to go in that sort of direction. Most of them were just "This is what I liked about the game, and this is what I didn't like, and I wonder why Bioware decided to do this and that", and yet they were still deleted.

Well now this is just getting crazy. They banned some guy for making a comment about how Bioware had "sold their souls to the EA devil". He was banned from the forums, but then soon found out that he could also no longer play any of the Bioware games he bought either, including DA2. He made a post on the forums, in which a Bioware employee responded basically with "deal with it".

Actually, what the Bioware employee said was "These are the rules you agreed to follow, and you didn't, and the punishment was handed out according to the guidelines".

For 72 hours. That's an important detail.

Comment on forum = lololol your bioware game library gone

If that's actually in the agreement for forum registration I'd be fucking SHOCKED.

e: oh, 72 hours?

Eh.

I guess that's not bad but

It still sets an ugly precedent.
