Fighting to the bitter end is an advantage when your opponent does not wish to perish.

His roommate obsesses over zombies.

His roommate is also a giant douchebag.

Zombies are now tainted by the association.

You know, I don't mean to totally go off topic here, but I was just kind of wondering something because of Jarka's image. I don't mean to sound sexist at all here, but I kind of wonder if the reason that a good portion of women hate math is because women's thought processes tend to be different from men's. Like, no matter how sexist that sounds, you do have to admit that men and women do think differently from each other, even if it probably is just how society kind of made them to think. And the way to solve a math problem tends to be more straight forward, and I kind of think women don't usually think very straight forward. It's not a bad thing by any means, it's just I think it could be the reason why math isn't maybe the most popular amongst women.

My maths teacher was a lady.

*shrug*

Now that I think of it, I had like three maths teachers and they were all women.

Not to not sound sexist, but the reason women don't like math is because THEY'RE BAD AT IT. I mean, apart from the basic math that you need to know...like kitchen math.

Women tend to use more of their brain than men do. We are chemically different.

In a way, yes, you're right. Studies have shown (which I don't feel like hunting down the links for right now) that girls tend to outperform boys in math and most other subjects up until around the fifth grade. While some argue that boys just get smarter at that point, I think a lot of it has to deal with society and the pressures that really begin to emerge in middle and high school. Girls are encouraged to focus on appearances, emotions, and social status, and academics don't fit into that mold. It's not as unacceptable for boys to be nerds as it is for girls.

In addition, there's a lot to be said for how we interact with toddlers and encourage children. "She's such a good girl!" "What a beautiful drawing, Erica!" vs. "He behaved so well!" "You did a great job, Jamal!" Compliments to girls tend to imply a state of being while compliments to boys imply a state of doing, which will ingrain themselves. How many times have you heard a girl say "I'm just not good at math?" whereas a boy will say "I can't figure out how to do this."

I could probably write a thesis on it, but it sums up with there are not enough nerdy role models for preteen girls, so they aren't encouraged to enter into STEM fields. There's been some progress, but still a lot of pinkwashing of the toy aisles.

Actually, I think it has more to deal with the way our minds are organized. Prior to puberty, boys and girls think pretty much the same, but afterwards things tend to shift. Women operate more on emotion than men do, typically. Don't shoot me ladies. As such, women tend to rock the art, writing, and basically being awesome at anything creative. Men, on the other hand, operate more logically. Hear me out! While we do well with math and stuff afterwards, we also tend to only work well within well-defined boundaries. We thrive on rules and structure.

Women tend to be awesome multitaskers. Men... not so much. The difference is that a man will do one job excellently, while a women will do a bunch of jobs well.

I'm probably the most hated guy here now.

I think this is very inaccurate. Most people will argue that the early childhood education is far too feminine for young boys, and that's why we're seeing an increase in ADHD diagnoses. Young girls are more able to sit attentively and listen and learn, and young boys seem more hardwired to explore and be unsettled.

That's just the case in the status quo.

There's a lot to be said for how our society expects us to act and how we conform to that role. Throwing around generalizations as fact can be really damaging for everybody because it limits the roles people are "allowed" to pursue (this goes both ways). What do you tell a little boy that scuffed his knee? "Boys don't cry." Eventually that gets internalized, and you have men who are afraid to show emotions. Girls are allowed to (or rewarded for) crying, so women are more comfortable expressing their emotions. Cause and effect.

Again, research shows that, if there is even a biological difference in intelligence/behavior, it's pretty much negligible. The differences arise as a result of our society.

That being said:
