Hate: Thor
Beginning was good; then Thor got banished. An ineffectual/wishywashy villain and having a forced romance that I did not care one iota about rammed down my throat cooled me to the rest of the movie. I guess hate is too strong a word. It had its funny moments - actually, its best were comedic. I suppose I'm more disappointed than anything. ![]()

I thought it was entertaining and the 3D was sweet. I thought the villain was sweet and well casted (as was Thor) and Natalie Portman is always a win for me.

The Frost Giants were cool.
The True Villain was so obvious, I knew it from the first second I saw him. I thought they were going to pull a switcheroo, thinking that he had to be a red herring. Instead, I got exactly the guy I thought would do it, for extremely generic reasons we've all heard a hundred times before, and motivations which seemed to change from scene to scene. Instead of conveying complexity, the character came off as frustratingly ineffectual and schizophrenic. I was ANNOYED by the villain, but I didn't hate him. If nothing else, I was hoping for some good action. And there's action there. But, as the Plinkett says: "action is good, but pointless action is boring." There's a sequence that gets a lot of play in the previews where Thor is decimating SHIELD guards to try and get somewhere. It looks dramatic, right? But in the actual movie, having them there is completely pointless and irrelevant to the plot. The ultimate climax of the scene could've taken place in a completely deserted landscape and had as much emotional impact; SHIELD is shoved in there as nothing more than an obligatory link to the coming movies and does nothing at all. They could've used all the time that they spent on that action sequence to do some actual CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, so that Thor's sudden conversion from "arrogant dickhead" to "wise actionking" didn't take place on a fucking dime, apparently in reaction to Natalie Portman's magical muff. ![]()

Dude idc what anybody says the actor that played him is fucking smokin ass hot. I was eye humping the screen the entire two hours with my sensei, sempai, husband and friend sitting right beside me. I didn't give one teeny tiny fuck.

Belle Hibiki Wrote:SHIELD is shoved in there as nothing more than an obligatory link to the coming movies and does nothing at all. That I agree with, for the most part. The inclusion of "Hawkeye" was also really dumb. Like... he literally did nothing. I get what they're trying to do, but I think they pushed it too hard this time. The whole romance thing would have played better if they had tried to make it seem like he spent more time on Earth. I just pretended that it had been, like, a month instead of three days and it seemed much more reasonable. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. For those curious, the guy playing Thor also played George Kirk at the opening scenes of the Star Trek movie.
