I was disappointed that Madoka Magica

It was more depressing than I hoped for, but I really already knew it wouldn't be a complete depressfest because of the Madoka wildcard. It was just a question of what the bitter to sweet ratio would be.

It was a good ending. Very good.

But Madoka becoming Magical Girl Jesus, leading all the previously screwed Puella Magi to magical girl Valhalla? Still being remembered by at least that ONE precious person (and maybe her little brother, too)? There being a hope that Homura could see her again someday? Fixing the entire system where Kyubey and his kind farmed misery?

For me, it's definitely more on the sweet side of bittersweet. It just really, really wasn't what I was expecting XD[/spoiler]

[spoiler] There was still a lot of bitter, though. She couldn't do anything to save Sayaka, she was forgotten by pretty much everyone but Homura (and that, in and of itself, is suffering incarnate for Homura). Maybe seeing her again someday is still a pretty slim thing and afaik probably not probable (though the manga has a pretty different ending in this department, but I wont spoil it) [spoiler] she takes Homura with her into godesshood.[/spoiler] Even though she solved the issue of Kyubey farming energy from misery, she couldn't fix entropy and there was still something that would continue to plague humanity that would feed him the required energy, it just didn't require such horrific sacrafice from the people who fight them.

I found it to be a roughly 50-50 split. Which is sort of the best kind of split. Chrono Crusade is the only other recent one I can think of that got it that good. [/spoiler]

Don't get me wrong, I love long animes like Bleach and Naruto but inevitably they feel too dragged out.

A compact experience like Claymore though just rocks your world and leaves you wanting for more, but at least you enjoyed the ride. I haven't managed to find anything like this anymore. : (

Full Metal Panic, and Full Metal Panic The 2nd Raid. You can skip Fumafuu, it's more of a comedic filler than an actual continuation of the series, though it does fall between those 2 seasons.

Actually, I don't know what genre's you tend to watch, or if you'll watch anything like I do, but to make this easier, here's a list of most of the anime I've watched and how I rate it, take the 4stars and up as my stronger recommendations. There's stuff in there of pretty much every genre, and starting from quite a few years ago. I haven't updated it in a long time, so most of the newer stuff won't be on there.
