Knock-up effects can glitch and send people into orbit. It's an known issue and, as far as anyone can tell, completely random.

That said, in all the games I've played I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen it happen.

Basically the Alistar thing is a display bug (afaik) and you can in fact move after the normal duration, problem is many people don't realize this and thusly don't move till they can see the character.

There are SOME things that follow transportation skills (like the Skarner ulti teleportation trick that got fixed, I think?), but I believe Jax only lands on the location he first targetted. I don't think he actually homes in on it.
