You the man, Waff.

Minoshia Wrote:Then i was also thinking, like penalties to people who go inactive. We'll keep using Rad as an example because it's easy... he was legendary in my previous example because you'd assume a good majority of the public would recognize him. But since he's been inactive lately maybe take a step back or something. Or have a whole different rank system for people who go inacting like missing, and forgotten or something.

I think we should move away from the mindset of "Penalty for not doing X" and move towards "Bonus for doing Y", where X and Y are opposites (for example, X could mean being inactive, Y could mean being active. But you can use this analogy for just about anything). If people have to treat roleplaying like it's a job, they'll want to do it even less.

There's effectively no penalty for not playing and tons of reasons to do so now and people still aren't RPing, so I don't see how that has anything to do with it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the current system in that respect, and I don't think it's 'part of the problem'. I just meant I disagreed with Minoshia's suggestion to change it and add more penalties for not RPing.

Yea but my penalty was simply a change in an irrelevant ranking system based on nothing in particular.

And please for the love of god can we give this gloomy board a makeover? It's DBZ not...I don't know. Part of the reason I like chubbs is because it doesn't hold all the flashy dbz images other rpgs toss up. I don't want that, just something that says 'Hey...this is a dbz rpg.'. The little sprite banner is old. I like it but it's old Sad

And is there any word of if the training system Belle recommended will be put into place or something better than the current one?

Yeah, have we just kind of given up on all that for now? It's understandable if nobody is really capable right now of doing that stuff, which was the problem for so long if I remember correctly.

I take it none of you have bothered to enter the training sub forum.

I haven't roleplayed yet so no Sad

Edit

Read it. Thanks for pointing that out.

Like I was saying to Vi, doesn't giving a flat amount of SP sort of undermine the entire idea of diminishing returns?

They changed it Smile I like it. If it changes again post a news bulletin or something because I overlooked it.

Ya we all get a flat 21 SP, including Rad so there is no diminishing returns anymore.

You guys are forgetting that Rad is a Rank S. He gets less to spend. What are you guys opinion on it? Do you think as a Rank S, he should get less SP? Furthermore do you think each Rank should get a distinctive amount of SP?

How exactly does he get less to spend?

Maybe you should go read the thing you wrote. Nowhere in there does it say that people that are stronger get less SP.

Maybe you should read more carefully in the future.

I suggest you get back to the topic of this thread.

I would but everytime i see one of your posts all you do is shit on someone's idea, which kinda defeats the purpose of even suggesting anything.

I've never ever shot down someone's idea. My opinions may differ but that's normal. If you have anything else to say concerning myself, PM me. This isn't the place.

Is it because I'm inebriated, or does anyone else see this?

I keed.

My stance on this I think stats aren't really anything but a measuring contest anymore, and that really isn't it's purpose. It's not about "Oh, I'm a better writer than you because I have a really high PL", that don't mean jack squat. Experience and points should be rewarded based on actual activity, a per post and get points thing. I'm not really keen on just throwing up a quickly written subparity and posting to get a flat rate once a week, while the guy who spent days contemplating a storyline, working hours per post with quality to match, a few times a week, gets the same amount. If you want better stats, work for it. I know a lot of us don't have tons of time, but if you can patrol the OOC boards several hours a day, why not bust open word or something and plot down ideas, or form your story?

I think that would be a good way to encourage some activity, and get some more of that fire we had before.

*nostalgia*

What I posted is perhaps not on par to what everyone else is talking about, but I felt that I should get that out. ^_^
