10 Years Later is always good for a boost in activity, but just that: a boost. It fades pretty quickly because it doesn't address the underlying issue. Neither does planetary conquest, or a new set of dragonballs. It comes down to the "So what?" factor.

So RagBlack captures Namek. So what? They get more zeni? They get more TP? Oh le noes. I care sooo much.

XT got a huge super mega-carrier. So what? It's never used in sagas. It never has an impact ever. It's a worse zeni sink than an epic mount because at least an epic mount had its uses.

18 collects the space dragonballs. So what? It's not like she's going to wish for the destruction of the universe or anything. She probably won't do something debilitating to anyone IC with them.

What does get people writing is inspiration, not any of these nebulous "incentives." That works for an MMORPG, but it doesn't work for a labor of love like writing. You have to WANT to write about these things, but more importantly, you have to care.

Planetary conquest would motivate the fuck out of me, tbh. Would be nice to have a sense of self perpetuation like that, instead of doing stuff that is insignificant until the next saga roles around.

Some kind of reputation system would be nice. Like in the case of a character like Minoshia just going on random killing sprees, it would be nice for us that don't read every post by everyone to be able to know something like that is going on. Maybe some kind of OOC incentives to stop said character, like a bounty system.

Some kind of PvP ladder would be cool.

In general, just some kind of aggro element that would keep us occupied. I noticed that people flock towards sagas and the promise of rewards, even if they hadn't roleplayed in a year. Sounds familiar, actually. But um... yeah, would be cool if we had the power to do that ourselves.

Another thing. I mean no offense, nor am I accusing anyone of favortism, etc. But I'm tired of EVERY saga, some staff member or uber vet character winning the top prize. Or filling out most of the top 10. Some kind of class thing would be nice if we persist on being a saga driven rpg. Just something to deter all the guys that would inevitably beast, like rewards that only newer characters would find appealing, or maybe a power level limit. Something to motivate me to want to participate in a saga, and at the same time feel as though I can make it pretty far. I have yet to enter a saga and thoroughly feel as though I had a chance to win it all.

Something like writing ranks, and sagas being open to only people of a certain rank would be cool, but way too impractical. Unless I'm wrong and it's not.

If your writing was solidly good and you were a consistent part of a saga, why shouldn't you earn a top prize? Saying you get a top prize because you're staff or a vet is just crap. It's never been that way. It's always been about writing ability and consistancy. The only exceptions are DA where the power factor comes into it, but even then myself and Aero still managed to get top 5 spots with tier one power-ups.

XD. That would never happen. Besides, in sagas NPC's of different ranks are always created.

The last few lines of this are kind of why I suggested those things. Right now we don't care because our characters can't really affect the world, and a lot of the time our characters seem kind of .... pointless, or trivial. Nobody wants to be the Yamcha looking on as the fate of the universe is decided by people 10 times your power (that's true for PCs too, but I don't think there's a very big problem there. In this case I'm talking about NPCs).

The reason we joined was to have our characters mean something in a larger context, as opposed to just writing by ourselves and having our characters be the super-strongest in a universe with only one writer.

I have disagree that nobody would care about getting extra TP. This is on top of the kind of things you suggested, so that TP would actually mean something.

If the only thing that mattered was inspiration, then the RPG wouldn't have a problem right now. If that's the case, then none of these suggestions will do anything. But clearly we do have a problem, and it goes beyond people wanting to write. There needs to be a reason to write here, something which you can't get from writing by yourself or on any old play-by-post. For many people, that reason is the competition and the RPG features.

You and Aero are both vets, that proves nothing. =/

Thought I made it pretty clear that I didn't mean favortism. Do you dislike reading or...?

You said uber vet, so I assumed you were talking about the originals. You obviously said uber for a reason.

Kinda. I don't mean you guys just give it to them, I mean it's damn near impossible to compete. That, for one, deters me after a few rounds.

"Who's left?"

"Bardock, Vi, 18... and other oobs =/"

"=/"

"...wanna play Halo?"

"k"

Might just be me, idk.

I think the problem is that we keep having competitive, elimination-style sagas. That's good for a while, but it'd be nice if we got some more storyline-based sagas where you don't have to get 'eliminated' (unless you go inactive or start picking fights) and your reward is based solely on the effort you put forth, not whether you won or not.

DA is the only elimination saga we have. With the exception of both FOF's. Since I've been here, everrything else has been storyline based.

Don't most sagas eliminate a certain number of characters before the end?

As far as I can tell, most of the deaths in storyline sagas are due to lack of effort. <.<;;

So, to do a TL;DR version, what would get you guys who aren't roleplaying, roleplaying again? What would stimulate you?

More stuff that we can do on our own that effects things on a larger scale. If I want to be a pirate, it would be nice to be able to pirate tangible shit. And draw attention to myself.

The shit that Buu said is pretty sweet, and the ideas you revealed in Vent were badass too. So I'm hoping something along those ideas happen. The dragonballs are bringing me back so yea, once they go dead again I'll have to find something else to keep me entertained.

My idea is coming together, slowly, but its coming. I want to note though, that you guys have a great deal of power over your roleplaying. If you want to be a pirate, grab a hat and be one, go kick some ass and steal booty (in any definition of that word). Go nuts. If you're unsure, just run it by us. You aren't limited to playing with PCs, guys. Go beat up on some NPCs too. Hell, make you an army of NPCs to go rock with.

You know, just because Vi's contract with Red Ribbon's over, doesn't mean she's stopped killing High profile people...maybe I should go hunt Bulma down, I got a bone to pick with that bitch.
