Dragon Kart
A company, that is choosing to remain nameless, has just announced that they wish to host a race of sorts, but not the usual one that people would find. They have called it Dragon Kart, and it is open to anyone who wishes to enter, and they have a unique way to make it so that everyone has an equal opportunity at winning this, as long as they keep their heads straight.
The object of the game, obviously, is to finish the race first. The course itself is placed on a long stretch of artificially altered terrain on Namek (Guru and the nearby village chiefs have already agreed to this and have been assured that it would be refitted back to its original design after the competition is over), which is thirty twenty-four miles long. It is nearly perfectly circular, and it has been fitted to be a rough ride. It is a mere fifty feet wide, with large bumps, deceleration pads, acceleration pads, and much more that they have not talked about yet. The stadium itself is enclosed in a large bubbles, plus a bubble for the interior, that stops contestants from going out of the arena. the arena is then situated with stands, which have the capacity for over two-hundred-thousand spectators, which is itself enclosed in a dome to keep people the people safe from whatever may harm them. Guru is the person entrusted with powering the protective domes, so he and he alone has the ability to shut them off.
As for what the contestants shall be riding: go-karts. Specially designed go-karts, that is. They have been suited with ki-immobilizer technology, stopping anyone from using their energy to gain themselves and advantage or wreak havoc. Also, it has a rollcage, which, like the rest of the vehicle, even the tires, is made out of some of the hardest substance in the known Universe, making it more endurable than anything the nameless company says they can think. Although it seems to be heavily altered, the motor has not been "suped" up, and the go-karts top off at sixteen miles per hour. They also have a radio control, and each driver is given a radio when before they begin to give to someone (who must be in the audience or a fellow a driver). It is two-way, but only between those two, and nobody else can interfere or intercept with the signal. The go-karts are also specially fit so that if they land upside-down, they will correct themselves after three seconds. inside the go-karts, other than the radio system, is a state-of-the-art, compact electronics system with which to control one's weapons.
Another note on the track: There are pit stops. There no need for them, since you are continually supplied with power, and the go-kart is pretty much indestructible, but any nutrients, calming down, or whatever that a driver may need can be done here. A driver switch can also be done here, but it must have been made clear at sign-up that an alternate driver might be done, and they have to sign up in tandem. The pit stop is located at the halfway-point and only the respective driver may enter their pit stop, which is clearly marked with their name (and their partner's if they have one).
There is yet another twist to the whole ordeal: Along the track, there are "items" that your go-kart can pick up. There are eight sets evenly spaced throughout the track, with each set containing enough items for each go-kart. They are obtained by crossing over a digital platform on the track, which is glowing if the item has not been picked up. Once an item has been picked up, the platform goes inactive, and no more items may be retrieved from it, and each go-kart can only obtain one item from each set of platforms. There is no limit to how many items you can store up, though, so all eight may be used in tandem near the end of the race, although this could be a bad idea, depending on the strategy and how it is implemented. The three different items that can be used are as follows: Ki bullet, ki fireball, and ki sludge.
A ki bullet is basically a ki blast that is fired off parallel to the go-kart, either forward or backward depending on the driver's choice. It will stay one foot above the ground for as long as it is going, and will ricochet off of the walls, but, with the help of a quantum computer that is built into the ki bullet, it will affect a go-kart if it hits it, even the one that shot it. It will cause the go-kart to tumble and roll and effectively stop after the rolling.
As for the ki fireball, it is pretty much an enhanced ki bullet, in the fact that it will always go forward and will aim for the person directly in front of them and always hit, due to the same quantum computers that are in the ki bullets. It will also take the shortest path possible to the targe, meaning it can go more than one foot of the ground and is not affected by the domes (with some corroboration between the nameless company and Guru). If, however, the driver is ahead of everyone else, the ki fireball will affect them, causing them to tumble and roll.
The last one, ki sludge, is quite different from the other two. While they will continue onward or backward, this one is simply catapulted, forward or backward, and once it lands, it will stabilize at one foot above the ground and sit there. It is also a ki blast fitted with a quantum computer, so as soon as it make contact with any go-kart, it will affect them, causing them to tumble and roll. However, once a driver selects the ki sludge as their next weapon to deploy, the electronics system will bring up a screen and joystick to aim the ki sludge, but it does not consider factors, such as wind resistance - that is left up to the driver.
There are also two other items, but they differ greatly form the regular three. They are both given out at the same time, but by the nameless corporation, randomly, each one to two different drivers. This happens at the half-point of the race. One is called the dragonsphere and the other the lightning bolt.
The dragonsphere is quite unique utility. It is a ball of ki that effectively covers the entire go-kart and allows it to travel at twice its top speed for two minutes. It also causes the go-kart to become immune to all other items while it is in use. The final pi?ce de r?sistance is that it can cause someone else to tumble and roll if the dragonsphere makes contact with their go-kart, plus it will cause their top speed to be lowered by five miles per hour for two minutes. However, once this retardation of another driver's go-kart happens, the dragonsphere disappears, meaning it could end early.
The second special item, the lightning bolt, takes effect on every single other driver (save for someone who may be using the dragonsphere at the time.It causes all of the go-karts, and their drivers, to be reduced in size - to one-half their original size, to be exact. This also cuts their speed in half. It lasts for a total of thirty seconds. Also, the user of this, and someone who may have been using the dragonsphere at the time of its use, may cause the miniature drivers to tumble and roll just be making contact with them with a fair amount of force.
That is the race, folks, so sign up!
