I can’t believe this shit! thought Rose, glaring as hard as she could at the woman parading around in front of her. First they beat the crap out of me, then they tie me up, and now they’re using my fucking name?! She would have been screaming her thoughts if they hadn’t gotten tired of it and gagged her. As it was, all she could do was silently fume.
Somewhere at the back of her head, a voice kept trying to say something like “Maybe if you’d listened to Master Dog and stayed at the dojo, you wouldn’t be in this situation.” But another voice was saying “I’M GOING TO KILL ALL THESE FUCKS,” and that voice was much louder and clearer.
Besides, she’d been locked away in the Illumis dimension for the first seventeen years of her life, dreaming about the outside world, about learning to fly. Her only glimpses of Earth had been in seeing-orbs and dreams. Stay in the dojo? Dog was fucking tripping.
But it had backfired. The sucker-punching assholes had come out of nowhere, and after beating her down they’d injected her with something. And when she came to, she was here. Arms handcuffed behind her, tied up against a statue – that of an angel, Rose noted bitterly. Maybe her mind was still foggy from the drug, but she could have sworn they’d said this was a reality TV show. If that was the case, if they’d actually, seriously done this to her for the sake of some basement-dwelling fat guy’s entertainment, then they were going to regret it.
“Your cuffs will unlock as you leave,” the high-voiced man was saying now. “Good luck, kiddies.”
As the jeep drove away from them, Rose heard a click. Shaking the handcuffs off, she reached her arms in front of her and pulled the gag out of her mouth. “You’re going to regret this, asshikes!” she bellowed. “Fucking cowards!”
She hastily pulled at the knots around her and after a lot of wriggling, managed to get loose. Her wrists were burning from the handcuffs, her body was aching from the beating, and her mind was still foggy after waking, but none of those mattered in the face of her rage. “I’ll get yooouuuu!” she roared, and a pink aura flared into life around her. “FLIGHT POWERS … ACTIVATE!”
With that, she kicked off the ground and rose into the air, arms stretched out in front of her. The girl’s eyes locked on the disappearing jeep in the distance, and then she shot forward.
Rose grinned as the air rushed past her. It had taken weeks, but under Master Dog’s training she’d finally achieved flight. Of course, there will still a few minor aspects she had yet to fully master. Such as, controlling speed, altitude, or direction.
Swerving erratically and trying distractedly to manage all three of those aspects at once, the girl smashed through a nearby shop window, tumbling into the shelves and knocking over the counters. For a moment she lay on the floor of the store, on the broken shelves, glass, and out-of-date food. Then she muttered, “God dammit.”
