I just saw Watchmen.

That movie was fucking amazing.

The subtle weaving of things like "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears for Fears really got me.

I was a bit surprised by the amount of sheer nudity involved; I think I've seen porno films with less nudity. But it WAS quite visually impressive, though I don't feel the sex scene was really necessary to the flow of the story, personally. It didn't further anything and seemed mostly just thrown in there; however, it was a pretty hot scene regardless.

The random gore was actually quite well done also.

My favorite two characters had to be Rorschash (spelling off) and Dr. Manhattan. I think they (from the point of someone who hasn't read the graphic novel) stayed very true to character up to the final scenes, which I appreciated.

Oh, and the word usage was simply god damn amazing. All the monologues were magnificent and I assume them to be lifted directly from the novels. About the point Jon mentions "As she handed me the cold, perspiring glass..." was when I realized my mind was destroyed by the sheer descriptive terminology being employed.

Dr. Manhattan was a fuckin' beast. I loved 'em.


And I agree, the sex scene was a bit unnecessary IMO, but not too overly raunchy that it just ruined it. Still, coulda done without it.
