Dragonball: Evolution

Every dragonball fan is expecting a word for word clone of what they saw in the original anime. So they are going to nitpick it to the point of making themselves hate it because liking it would mean they aren't loyal enough.

"They went through the trouble of putting Roshi onto a small island hut in the middle of a lake!" "Yeah, but you can see a city in the background, way to halfass it, THEY DON'T CARE AT ALL"

And when you see someone nitpicking it like this based on rabid anime fanatic reasons, and point it out, the response tends to be "No, even if it wasn't *anime*, it still looks like it would be so horrible omg Japan does everything better, haven't you seen Godzilla?"

I think the movie is going to be decent. Its not going to be an exact replica of what we've already seen. But then, neither was Mortal Kombat. It was a little weird to see Reptile in the manner he was portrayed before infesting a random dead warrior. In fact, I'd say the part that largely killed the second one was the fact that it wasn't even consistent with its own predecessor (The multiple reptiles, wtf did they do, all go infest random green clothing wearing ninjas?). That and cramming every possible character they could into it, as well as turning the armor plastic and putting gloves onto the ninjas and replacing skin peeling animations with tiny explosions (OMG EXPLOSIONS ARE COOL).

Rant aside, let's just hope its more adaptation like Mortal Kombat or even Silent Hill, and less like Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter (the first).

I'm going to just go in and watch it. I'll see the movie, shrug off the unavoidable bitching that will come from pretty much everyone for daring to create a movie that didn't follow everything to the dot, and likely enjoy it because I'm not going in and grumbling as I find my seat with "What does it matter what spot, make sure its close to the door so I can walk out of this fail movie" before the previews are even over.
