*hears a unexpected knock on the door, looks through peephole sees two dudes I don't know, opens door and both guys look at me for five seconds*

Guy: 'Um...you live here?'
Me: Yea, you looking for one of my roommates?
Guy: Er no.
Guy 2: Yea I mean
Me: They're not here *closes door slowly while staring at them*

I need a new baseball bat.

Sounds like part of new crime wave. People come up to your door, start talking to you, and if they learn that you're about to leave for work and that nobody else is there they'll wait until you're gone, move in, and when you come back all your shit has disappeared.

Not that they seemed particularly apt at it. Just a warning: if anybody comes to your door and starts talking, and you don't know them, don't let them know anything about you or anybody else who lives there and just tell them to go away or you'll call the police.
