[8] The Survivors
#18
Oliver Nash wasn't really a violent man. Sure, he could fight, and probably kill, 90% of the population on Earth. If he wanted to be, he could probably be a very efficient killing machine with the kind of training and intelligence he already had over a good fifty years of living. However, despite all of that, the man who was called the Wizard didn't really have a history of unnecessary violence and never looked to his fists for the first answer he could find.

But Kai Demolic was right there, with dark skin and large, slightly plump body. The first thing Mr. Nash could think about, the only thing in his mind...was inflicting physical pain.

When Wizard kicked the stool in the air towards the mastermind, it seemed to move in slow motion. He could see the hand of Kai shift upwards only about an inch or so, then flicked aggressively, causing the stool to shift it's direction in mid-air, soaring above several of the tavern's patrons and connecting with the wall.

By the time Kai looked back at Oliver Nash, expecting to see him standing in shock, he had already lost track of the quick detective. Oliver was next to him, having juked sideways in preparation for a giant roundhouse kick. Once it hit Kai, the Wizard realized that something was protecting his opponent from physical contact, as a flash of yellow light caused his kick to bounce backwards, sending him off of his feet.

Wizard looked up as Kai Demolic stormed forward two feet, just enough to grab his grey-haired target by the collar of his torn shirt and yanked him forward, slamming him into an empty table, then against the bar where he released his target. Nash turned around, clearly outmatched. "What are you-" but he was cut off with a punch.

"You've been a good sport thus far, Mr. Nash," The villain explained, curling his hand around the ex-cop's throat and raising him up in the air. By now, the only people left in the bar were drunks who just watched in silence. "You've helped keep me on my toes, without a doubt, but I'm afraid you've worn out your welcome. For me to accomplish my dreams...for me to finish this story that is still unraveling...you must exit, stage right."

Oliver Nash had never felt so helpless in his life. He was taller and more muscular then the dark-skinned villain who held up so easy. He kicked and struggled, but all he could do was mumble and cough, doing his best to wiggle free a breath from Kai's grip around his neck.

A flash of blue emitted from Kai's hand. Wizard recognized the light...he was being teleported out of here! Just like that! This was it? No big fight? Just get your ass kicked and leave? Oliver Nash had worked too hard, done too much, to go out like this!

But there was nothing he could do. The light swallowed him whole.

All he could hear was barking.

(Wizard is gone. Sage wins...anything she wants from the shop list, that has been given as a reward already.)
