76 Embodiment of Fire: Goku drowns..literally. In a nightmare or something about Earth being destroyed he comes back with a last ditch effort and fires a Kamehameha at Frieza. (Not the best example)
When Tien spams his Tri Beam at Cell. Goku states that if he continues he'll die. "If he continues we'll lose him!" Though Tien collapses to the ground completely drained...he lives and Goku saves him AND Piccolo who in a previous episode got his chest pierced.
Vegeta is buying Goku some time with Kid Buu. He's barely standing, bleeding like crazy. Krillin states he has no reserves left, meaning he's close to death, yet Vegeta manages Super Saiyan AND manages to match Kid Buu in a stand off.
There's probably more, but I'm in a cloud right now.
