If we want to be perfectly honest, Rem said that there was nothing left to "argue" about. That is something completely different than saying that there is nothing more to be said. However, by responding, you stoked up a new argument, thus negating his previous statement. He was correct at the time, but you saw fit to beat a dead horse.
