For someone who's ignorant about Women's MMA that's a pretty bold statement. I'm pretty sure the majority of people who watch these women fight are fans of MMA so I doubt they'd just ignore the strength and skill aspects which add value to their fights. It's like you're trying to compare it to women fighting in mud where there's a male audience. These women are professionally trained fighters with various fighting styles and train year in year out.
It's sad that the majority of fans believed Carano carried women's MMA, when there are talented female fighters out there better than her, who aren't shown a lot of attention.
