What's that vampire series about this chick vampire who befriends a police officer who eventually saves her from a fire and upon seeing her regenerate...figures out her secret.

Then this other vampire nearly kills him from blood loss, so she bites him. That's where that book ends. =(

This must have like 5 years ago. Chick's name might have been April.

Would love to find that series.

Was it "The Last Vampire" series by Christopher Pike?

Despite being written obviously for teenagers at the time, I really enjoyed it a lot and should probably reread it again. It did a very good job depicting how I would expect someone who has a lengthy amount of experience from years of living to act in situations. I can't say if it would stand the test of time if I read it again today, but I did enjoy the storyline in the six books, which I got as two books that contained three volumes each in them.

The main character was named Sita in this though and there were many discussions of Krishna, Shiva, and the other Gods of that mythology while still keeping fairly realistic, and I think the discussion of the mythological elements while combining with modern day settings was what really entrapped me.

If anyone wants to read something very entertaining while still being a quick read, try out the series Broken Sky. Its like six books long or so, all fairly short, but the concept its based on is very good. Its written as something you could picture being done in an anime or manga, and even the art on the covers are in that style. It was another book series I was reading back in high school when I wanted quicker reading than the Sword of Truth series that I was working on (which I also recommend) or Wheel of Time (again, recommend). You can probably find a site online to read the series from if you wanted; I found some site that has all the Animorphs books available for download in pdf format myself.
