Ok, you said that the main page was "down." In reference to websites I, for one, have always interpreted that to mean that it is "broken" or "not functioning."
Yes, the main page needs to be updated, but its still working.
I wish I could say something more reassuring than "its on the to-do list" but I can't at the moment. I assure you, though, we're aware of the deficiencies of the main page.
