Well, obviously my old title "Adventurer" isn't going to cut it anymo'.
One of the ideas I had (which was bandied about briefly in the ChatBox but was not confirmed, IIRC) was making Belle's "job" revolve around defeating evil monsters or people, and that made me start asking questions.
Under this new system, we're obviously not allowed to have a 'catch all' unlimited job breadth, but how narrow would it be? Ex., presented with a list, which of these would you say is the 'limit' for how much a profession could cover?
- Unlimited. Anything goes as long as you can at least tenuously tie it to the job. (Old 'catch all' professions.)
- Winning at something. (Martial Arts competition, farting contest, bake-offs all fall under this.)
- Winning at something against a clearly defined opponent. (As above, only there must be a clear antagonist.)
- Defeating an opponent through direct or indirect conflict. (Either by breaking them in two, making them surrender, or subverting their reason to fight you altogether.)
- Defeating an opponent through physical contest. (Limited scope. Only one area of contest 'counts'.)
- Defeating a clearly evil opponent through physical contest. (Limited scope. Only one area of contest 'counts'. Only one type of enemy 'counts'.)
In this new system, where would mods expect jobs to fall in their scope?
Edit: Before anyone points it out, I realize that a number of the entries on the list are superfluous because Ander's already stated that a merc, for instance, would need to decide whether he wanted to protect people or kill people, but I decided to include them for the sake of a more complete spectrum.
