Bad news? I've only played WC3 once, never played DotA, and I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing at pretty much all times. Tutorial was easy, though.
I recommend playing a few practice games by yourself before jumping in with other people. It's pretty simple: go to Practice Games, set the teams to 1, and create a password so nobody else can barge in. Set the bot to "Noob." I recommend playing against Master Yi until you're comfortable with the controls. Start by using multiple champions until you find a play style that you like, and if you click with a specific one, spend some time getting to know them better. Each champion has a section that tells you their strengths and weaknesses, abilities, and tips.
And if all else fails, ask Waff. He knows everything.
