“It’s Kaden.”

In all honesty, the courier would have simply preferred to be left alone. He was still mentally struggling with the idea of being tricked into another… thing. He didn’t even actually know what Dante’s Abyss was, but given the name and the fact that it was a “tournament” he didn’t think it would be anything he would like. With a failed attempt to push the negativity out of his mind, Kaden turned his head to the man addressing him.

“Right,” the one-eyed man nodded. “Kaden. I would have gotten it eventually.”

“Riiiiight.”

Having cleared up the man’s pronunciation problems, Kaden was about to turn away when he noticed the tail wrapped around his waist. Great. Another Saiyan. Normally, the courier would have made some kind of attempt to hide his increasingly racist thoughts, but he couldn’t exactly bring himself to care. As his mind slowly put together the eye patch and the tail, though, it clicked.

“Orion!” he suddenly exclaimed.

With the slightest jerk of his head, Orion recoiled from Kaden’s voice. The courier had spoken a bit louder than necessary, but he had still been right. A smile formed at the corner of the saiyan’s mouth as he stood and, with mug in hand, walk close to Kaden.

“What the hell? I didn’t think you made it out of Friend or Foe in one piece,” Kaden said as Orion drew closer.

“Funny story, actua--,” the saiyan began.

“No...” Kaden cut him off.

“Ok… maybe not ha-ha funny, but…”

That time, Orion had cut himself off. It was clear that Kaden hadn’t been paying attention, so the saiyan followed the courier’s eyes to see what had. Standing at the entrance to the bar was a woman in a white blouse sporting a halo identical to Orion’s. Kaden locked eyes with her for only a moment before almost violently turning his attention back to the saiyan at his side.

“Oh… oh my God! Kaden!”

The courier’s eyes widened as he turned his head back towards Sophia. She gave a small wave as she approached, but it definitely didn’t help calm the courier’s nerves. Kaden tried to take in a deep breath, but that was when he was unfortunate enough to catch sight of the girl’s halo. He knew she had died, yet she was walking towards him like nothing had ever happened.

Nervously, the courier reached for his recently refilled beer, but made the unfortunate mistake of turning towards Orion as he did. He had intended to ask the saiyan whether he was insane or if there was a girl with a halo walking towards them. That was when the courier noticed Orion’s halo. That was the tipping point.

Kaden wasn’t sure whether he had forgotten he had wrapped his legs around the bar stool he was sitting in, or if he had simply forgotten to walk altogether. Trying to jump away from Orion as he realized he was about to be surrounded by dead people, though, didn’t work out too well for the courier. With a yelp of surprise, Kaden tumbled to the ground, bar stool and mug in all.

“Yeah…” Kaden sighed. “Figures.”
