Well, I would expect the same courtesy to be applied really. I'm against someone running around "bible bashing" when they only know maybe what they heard in Sunday School as a kid or something or have read just a couple of chapters. That's ignorant and shallow.
I'm equally against someone of a particular religious persuasion either assuming that anyone who does not agree with their beliefs have 'clearly not read it' or 'is following the crowd'. The accusation falls completely on deaf ears when a large number of people of any specific faith have never even opened the book of another faith and studied it as well to see what it might have to offer you. Many of them would be quite surprised at just how similar those religious texts are to their own, making me quite curious as to the choice of their specific one without having looked at anything else.
