“Did you see that?!” Josh gasped. He wrapped an arm around Audric’s neck and began to shake him violently in excitement. The technical supervisor whiplashed from side to side, his head bobbing freely like a cork in a maelstrom. The chairmen then released his grip and clapped his hands loudly, cheering in unbridled enthusiasm. “Man that was exciting! Aren’t you excited?!”
“I feel like I just experienced shaken baby syndrome,” Audric replied woozily.
Josh scoffed and waved it off. “Oh come on, you’re fine!”
He gave the techie a hearty slap on the back, and the dizzied Audric fell out of his chair.
“Oops,” Josh said, giving a look of embarrassment and empathy.

Ashe hummed merrily to herself as she scraped her fork against the plate, scooping up the last bits of jellied filling from the demolished slice of pie and depositing it into her mouth. The student sighed in pure bliss.
“Shall I help myself to another piece? Maybe some cake?” she mused humorously to herself. “Why, I think I will.”
She twirled around with plate in hand towards the table, fancying herself a large slice of double chocolate cake with sprinkles. It would require a large glass of punch, and she selected one mixed with ginger ale and lemon-lime soda. The girl did not notice the two lumbering Syntex guards as they approached behind her. She balanced the plate in her hand and grabbed her juice cup and whirled around, slamming right into the firmly toned torsos of the sentries. The cake plate flipped backwards and smashed all over Ashe’s outfit, and the juice cup splattered its contents all over herself and the floor.
“Dude!” Ashe protested angrily, now covered with punch and chocolate frosting. She looked straight ahead, eyebrows furrowed, and saw nothing but muscle covered by a black T-shirt. Her irritated expression melted into one of nervousness as she looked up, up, up, staring straight into two ugly mugs of corporate goons. “Uhhh…hi?”
“Ashe Branford,” one of them rumbled. “You have been eliminated from competition, but your role in this tournament is not yet over. You are to come with us, now.”
“Are you kidding me? No way, I am so out of here!” the student protested. She attempted to break through the wall of the pair. “I think I’ll just, uh, be going now, and uh, thank you for the punch and pie, but I really…”
She let out a surprised squeal as one of the guards wrapped an arm around her waist and hoisted her under his armpit like she was nothing but a rag doll.
“You don’t have a choice,” the other grunted.
They turned around and began to walk out of the room.
“Hey, HEY!” Ashe growled. She beat her fists uselessly against her captor’s back. “Put me down! Put me down now!”
He ignored her, and the girl kicked her legs like a child with a tantrum.
“Hey Donkey Kong, do I look like Princess Pauline to you? NOOO!” Ashe insulted, her head shaking and her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Alas, nothing she did proved effective as the guards whisked her away to a fearful and unknown location.
