Here's my spiel for the races-
One of the issues that I've had from a lot of Rpgs is people not being available to switch between certain "races" without completely restarting a character or otherwise. Here it's not so much a matter of race than it is "title" so I took a few styles out of other stories and meshed them to see what comes up.
Human - This is the basic spiritually aware human. Their focus is using basically any weapon (fists, broom, pole, hammer) amplified by their spirit power (Reiatsu) to preform a style of magic (Demon Arts) and fight. Now to give them a perk and make every human different there are three modes each character falls into for their power- Strength (offense/defense boost), Speed (speed/agility boost), Magic (Reiatsu-based powers boost). These three styles effect what their "Release" (Tier x2, Tier x3 transformation) will be.
Shinigami - Soul Reaper of the spirit world. As would be imagined, you're a part of the "Soul Society" in that your primary job (should you follow it) is to preform missions given to you given by higher ups with the authority. As a Soul Reaper you have a number of options you can choose from to decide where you progress to. Upon entering the Soul Society as a Shinigami you are given the possibility to enter the Spirit Arts Academy which will train you to become a member of the 13 Court Guard Squad which offers some perks. Alternatively, you may also choose to go rogue, exhaled (for whatever reason your story needs), become a sanctioned Earth Shinigami or even run the route of becoming a Vizard.
Quincy - Basically human but more weapons oriented. Their strength lies in not exerting their physical prowess but their ability to draw in large amounts of spirit energy into their shots. A true weapon-based class but created in such a way that a Quincy can have a single weapon that will take them throughout their career, never needing a change if they don't want it. The main pull for this class is obviously the weapons which range from crossbows and arrows to shotguns and sniper rifles that shoot pulses of spirit energy. The Quincy travel in pairs- a "master" and "apprentice" who train and fight alongside one another (Jedi-like).
Hollow - Souls who've developed a taste for consuming other souls, growing stronger with each spirit. Hollows are made for the people who want a more creative path with their character as it offers them a chance to become any type of bizarre creature so long as the typical "Hollow Mask" is found over their face. Up through their Vasto Lorde form a Hollow will be using a "Soul Arm" or a carnation of a weapon that can be claws, nets, bows, anything really. As they progress through their forms they begin taking on human appearances (if they wish) till finally achieving the status of Arrancar.
There's also the ability to start your role playing off as a "Plus" or a human spirit- from there you can either become a Hollow or Shinigami. Likewise, Shinigami can become Hollows, cleansed Hollows at lower levels can become Shinigami and Humans can become either (again, only to a certain point).
Having the possibility to move seamlessly and realistically between groups is one of the aspects I've been working towards in this. Another would be "reincarnation" that would come about if, let's say someone gets tired of their character but likes some of their talents. They run a final mission that's been approved by staff in which their character dies but the spirit is resurrected in the body of another.
