To be honest, I'm not sympathetic (entirely) to the "ignore CA" argument. While I'm not actually talking about my stance of CA's necessity in this rpg, it IS a part of the RPG. I don't think we should need to go through all the effort of making sure that a part of the RPG that is completely ignored and rarely used is kept accurate. If its there, I'd like to have it matter sometimes.
The argument about never beating those at the top falls short as well, given that the same people that were up there before the turnover/reset are up there AGAIN. And a lot of the same people that held to that complaint are sitting near the bottom with 25 or fewer posts again. Which leads me to my next point...
Knowing that CA will count in maybe one out of every seven or eight events practically encourages people to "saga hop", basically going inactive between sagas entirely, only roleplaying during the sagas themselves. I understand that this isn't an intentionally pursued goal by many, but it is an indirect side effect of making only your work during sagas count every time. There's no incentive to bother writing outside of a saga when you could save your energy and "burst" your way through a saga fresh on ideas and get rewards. It shouldn't be this way (as in, people should write to enjoy writing and doing their sagas) but it almost is. The people with the higher CA are the ones that are writing between sagas to great effect, enjoying the time writing with each other. The people without are waiting for the next saga and then complaining that if CA is taken into account, they have no chance.
Add in that a large factor of the turnover was to address a system where we could never make power matter, and a concern was to fix it so that strength gained would matter, and then it seems dumb to frequently just ignore it.
I would rather remove it entirely from the system as a mechanic than to have it sitting there, requiring time to check its accuracy and maintain it, yet intentionally leave it unused.
