But, yeah, outside of sagas, you're totally right - you'd only need it for PvP.

As far as your layer of energy thing goes, like, you just want to use ki control to sheath yourself in energy? That should be alright, depending on how the tech is phrased. I mean, ultimately we'd have to see it to see if it would be considered op or whatever.
