Hate: Games whose higher difficulties don't actually require changes in strategy, because higher forms of strategy are impossible due to terrible faults within the game itself. Games which create higher difficulty purely by cranking up the statistics of the entities within the game.
I'm coming quite close to breaking a controller over Force Unleashed. They released trophies, so of course I want them, but Jesus fucking Christ, this game is irritating. The lock-on mechanism is laughably terrible. Guy standing right in front of you? No hope with Force Lightning; that'll go just to the side of him, leaving you wide open to take an ass-kicking. Got more than three enemies in an area? Better start praying; once you get caught in a combo, there's absolutely nothing you can do except watch your health get whittled down. In a boss fight? Get a rabbit's foot; your opponent can do tricks during which he/she cannot be harmed, and that cannot be blocked. Further, your opponent (on Sith Lord, which isn't even the hardest difficulty) has roughly fifteen times as much health as you do, requiring you to pull off somewhere around thirty-five full-length lightsaber combos to dent her health (provided he/she doesn't just auto-counter-attack your first strike; gotta watch out for those), whereas you die in two combos. Somehow, your it's quite easy for your opponent to counter-attack or block in the middle of your combo, but if you get caught in a single swipe from your opponent, expect to be defenseless for the rest of the combo (and say goodbye to your health). Expect next-to-none of your force powers to work; expect all of your opponents force powers to break defense.
No trophy is worth this bullshit. I can't improve at the game because there's nowhere to improve. It's a matter of getting lucky with the lock-on system, getting lucky with your opponent's defenses.
