Move vs. Kinect
#6
Victoria Wrote:The fact that Move is HD is why I'm considering buying it. I don't care if it's 4 years in the making, and that there's a Wii in the market (I own that too). The depth between the two is substantial. Of course I'm going to wait to see what else they release as far as gameplay and hardware and the like, but I'm buying one or the other. Wii does not compare, at all, it's lack of graphics and it's control design is pathetic.

How is the control design significantly better in the Move? The tracking system is an improvement (which I mentioned, albeit briefly). I love the grouping of the controller buttons around the main button, but that's pretty similar to the control pad just above the A on the Wiimote )I've never had an issue with that part of the design). They both have a trigger button. The Wiimote has another 5 buttons that can be used (although they are in a hard to reach location in the "standard" scheme, they work nicely for adapting to the "classic" scheme).

That doesn't change the fact that the subcontroller (nunchuck) has two awkwardly placed buttons between the analog stick and the control pad and no trigger buttons (compare to the nunchuck's two).

Aaaaalso, the PS3 can only recognize up to 4 controllers at a time with the Move, including subcontrollers. That means either 2 people with a sub and main controller or 4 people with just a main controller. That severely cramps multiplayer on a micro basis (the only type of multi I play).

I think there are definite improvements to controls in the Move, but it gets balanced out with cons, in my opinion. Maybe once I use one it'll change my mind, but eh.

HD is great, but for me it's not a mood killer. If I can gleefully play my Super Nintendo, I can handle the Wii's graphics for worthwhile gameplay.

Finally, to clarify, I'm not a super-Wii fangirl or anything. I actually prefer playing the PS3 over the Wii. I just think Sony should have done a lot more in four years while developing their motion control scheme than they actually did. This wasn't meant as an insult to you (you seem like you are taking it personally, and I do not mean that at all, aside from the first remark which was meant solely as a lighthearted jest towards your wording and not an attack on your character). You asked for an opinion and I gave it. I'm sorry my tone was unclear.

If life gives you lemons, hand them to me!
I've got a great recipe for lemon meringue pie.
