I like putting in an effort to make people feel better when no one else will, even if that effort means nothing in the big picture. Everyone deserves to be treated well by someone, no matter who they are or what they've done.
I hate that there is such pervasive misery in our society and that we are simply being now, as a race, and not progressing like we once did in thriving eras like the Enlightenment, where people could pursue their niche freely. Even with social class defining who you were, street urchins like Leonardo DaVinci emerged from periods like this. That was true liberty. When you really could amount to something no matter who you were.
On a side note...fuck what we are now calling pursuit of happiness.
