you don't have to stick with one career path. just get a degree in something that you can do for the next ten years. later you get another degree, maybe going to school part time so you spend five or six years of the decade working on a four year degree.
or cut down on the time that'll take by getting a dual degree. thinking of that myself, there's a lot of overlap between my major and some others.
