Say what you will about motion controls, but it does work and there are lots of games on the Wii that wouldn't work without the motion control/pointer. It's not a gimmick, it's just new technology and different across all platforms which kinda excludes it from every big budget cross-platform game.

I expect next generation it'll be more widely utilised since it'll likely be a 'standard' and not an added peripheral for 2 of the platforms. For now though, the only motion control-based game I'm anticipating is Zelda: Skyward Sword.
