One of the things we've been split on, as a community, is where or not we want a number -- referred to as Power-Level -- to have any influence on the outcome of a direct PvP encounter. There are pros and cons to each side of the debate, though I imagine most of you already have your opinion on it.
Determinations based purely on writing quality are completely subjective, there's no way around that. Numbers, however, are not. The problem with using numbers is that it forces the judge to try and quantify something abstract in order to carry out a comparison. There's no way around that.
