Yes make it a currency term. I like those ideas there, Tokens and Coins.
I'm thinking that to make doorway's to Heaven/Hell would be something to work for, and gain, if you do end up there. This way you could go back via said item/reward to help a friend who might die later on, or do things there you might want to work for.
More abilities would be sweet.
