I jumped into a solo ranked last night, against my better judgment. I get into the lobby and decide I would let my team know what I wanted to play. So I told them I'd like to play Ryze. I think he's a solid caster and I'm pretty good with him. Fortunately, though, the team captain had a different opinion of Ryze as a champion.
He last bans Ryze, then locks in Anivia. Our team's second pick (I'm third) starts talking about how its good that he was banned because I would have fed the other team for sure if I got such a shitty champion. While I was annoyed at the ban, if he had said he was going to lock Anivia, I would have picked someone else. No one's going to argue the efficacy of Anivia as an AP carry.
So I go for Lux instead, deciding to play AP/Support since I didn't get my Ryze. Our team ended up being Anivia, Olaf, Lux, Nasus, and Cho. Pretty solid, I thought. Anivia takes mid, Cho goes top, Olaf jungles, and me and Nasus go bot.
Cho dies once and loses his tower first (don't even remember who was on the other team other than a Shaco). Anivia, the one who banned Ryze, died four times in mid and lost his tower next. Our Nasus was DC for ten minutes, but I held our tower, 2v1, until the 15 minute mark.
Our Olaf, the one who was talking about how I would feed and congratulating Aniv for banning Ryze, ended up going 0/10/2. Those two assists, btw, were to me. Our team had 3 kills and I was two of them. That piece of shit Olaf couldn't even say anything. I just decided to remind him what a complete fucking piece of shit he was every couple minutes and he didn't even say anything back. Neither did Anivia. At least the jackasses knew their place.
