The only people who need to know about the special roles are those with the special roles.
Mafia is a game of information. Part of that game involves lacking information. The Mafia, as a rule, have more information than the townspeople, but even they don't have ALL the information.
But yes. There are repositories all over the interwebs for the typical roles.

Basically, don't make any assumptions for the upcoming game. There will be special roles. There will probably be mechanics you haven't seen before. The game WILL be balanced, but it will be a game of somewhat more chaos. Both the Mafia and the Townspeople will, as a whole, have greater and more diverse (and hidden) powers.
THAT SAID, if we get a dedicated sub-forum for these games (if they really take off), I don't have a problem with constructing a sticky to solidify some of our rules.
