'Going down fighting' is a war metaphor. This isn't warfare, nor are any similar stakes on the line.

Choosing not to resign in chess in a clearly lost game is a grievous insult.

Choosing not to resign in LoL in a clearly lost game is a waste of time.

Choosing not to quit in the Mafia game is a waste of time. The game is over. The townspeople win. With full-time job and work obligations kicking up a shit-ton lately (as well as things like, y'know, relaxing and talking to friends and sleeping), it was an easy decision for me.

The people who are so terribly disappointed strike me with all the legitimacy of a person who toys with an opponent in chess to set up the 'perfect checkmate.' Either that, or they are unaware of just how hilariously over the game was.

It's not something I would often recommend, but then, as the statistics play out, what happened in-game isn't something that often happens.

I'll always go down fighting. The fact that you quit doesn't bug me. The fact that you have too much going on in your life doesn't bug me. It's perfectly understandable. You think I was going to do any staff work hopped up on Oxycodone and in severe pain after Surgery? Fuck no. Video games and ice cream bitch.

What bothered me (and I didn't mean to come off the way I did) is that you chose to stay silent. Instead of telling Rose your reasons in a PM you just bailed. Which is easily read as being a sore loser or just not having the guts to see something through to the bitter end.
