On the left, no idea about the right but he's stealing my light

Petkas Demoore was brought up in a humble adobe in a farming village in the nation of (5), where as might be expected, he was raised to take over the family farm once his father had past on, just as his father had done when his granddad had past on. From a young age, Petkas was a curious brat that his pa struggled to contain, with impromptu excursions into the countryside which he would be brought back from when he inevitably caused a bit of trouble (angry wizard, field ablaze, etc). This nature would be pacified temporarily by going on trips to the market in what would become (4), where his father would sell goods and Petkas would get a taste of the world. He became enticed by the glamorous tales from adventurers and came up with fanciful visions of honour and glory which he figured would be his future. This being against his father's wishes of course, but these were the fleeting dreams of youth.

As Petkas came of age, a dramatic incident occurred which would set his course for years to come. Tragedy struck the farm with the outbreak of civil war between the rebels of soon-to-be formed nation of (4) and current state of (5). As the region was taken by dark times, the farming village in which Petkas and his family lived became destitute, leading many young men to join up to stop the rebel army, partially out of anger for lost of trade, and partially to send their soldier's dues home to pay for their families. Petkas went for both and more, as at last he would have a shot at being someone in the world.

Due to his childhood hobby, Petkas was a natural choice for a military scout, and proved his worthiness through effective tracking and information gathering. The old ruffian in him eroded slowly through military regimentation and experience. He also became rather cynical, as his views on the glamour of adventure became far more realistic after a few bloody skirmishes with his enemy. It struck him quite sharply how these rebels were once his countrymen, how he could have seen their faces on his trips to the city in his youth. As well, his experience brought to his attention his own morality.

Instead of returning home once the war reached resolution, he sent a letter to his parents explaining he had some things to figure out, and cast himself out into the world in search of some sort of meaning, which he found in a much more casual and life-loving form of adventure similar to the childhood years. He sought to explore as much of the world as he could in the short human time he was given, in order to see the gods' masterwork in full, and appreciate a more peaceful existence. Not that he didn't make a living as a guide for adventurers on the side, of course.

During the most recent years leading up to the present, Petkas has explored a good chunk of the southern world and has taken up a casual following of the god of roads, Fharlanghn, as his followers take up a similar quest to his. The years have relaxed his military demeanour quite a bit, though he maintains a thorough respect for the traditions that have been past to him and to the protectors of all the lands he visits.
